2009 Lookback | Kris Allen does NY media appearances in August 2009

Continuing with our lookback at Kris Allen's 2009, we've reached August. August 2009 was a wonderful month, with a cell cast of an Idol tour stop almost every night and the media bonanza that was the New York City area stops. This post will include the New York media. New York City media, August 2009

After a few stops in the mid-Atlantic, the Season 8 American Idols Live tour played two nights in Newark, NJ (August 8 and 9, 2009) and then two nights on Long Island (Uniondale, August 11 and 12). With all that time and the Big Apple right in between, there were ample opportunities for the Idols, including Kris, to be interviewed on TV.

Good Morning America appearance, August 7, 2019

Of course, the one everyone remembers is Kris, Adam Lambert and Season 7 winner David Cook's appearance and live concert on ABC's Good Morning America. Unfortunately for me, I was on vacation and the hotel chose to do a fire drill that morning! UGH. Luckily, there were many videos to catch up on...

Here's an interview of Kris taken backstage before the first night. We learn that Little Rock was his favorite tour stop, he thinks of the mafia when he thinks about New Jersey, and he's not superstitious about you saying "good luck" v. "break a leg":





It's On with Alexa Chung, MTV, August 10, 2009

The Idols ring the closing bell at NASDAQ, August 10, 20019
This was a bit different. Nine minutes of ringing the closing bell at the NASDAQ stock market in New York City. It's long but kind of interesting? Megan gives a speech after they are introduced. Then they take photos. Look for Kris at 5:06 mark. Their families come out and join them on stage for more photos. The lead up to the bell ringing (with some hilarious faces and dances from Kris) starts around the seven minute mark and the actual bell is rung at nine minutes.
