I'll be honest, it's been so quiet on the Kris front that I forgot he had scheduled this joint show with friend and fellow singer-songwriter Jon McLaughlin. If you are a Kris fan and not familiar with Jon's music, check him out and I think you'll like it.
The two played a house show at Buddy's Place Nashville last night and luckily for all of us Annie (@ameeliu) was there! Kris premiered a new song called Mr. Right Next Door. (You can hear that song in my March 19 post.) Media after the break...
The tour continues, moving from California to the Pacific Northwest with stops in Portland and Seattle. I feel like it's been quite awhile since Kris played Portland and Seattle, so I checked and it was not actually as long as I was thinking... he played both cities during the Letting You In tour (just click their names in the post tag to see the posts).
The basic 22 song set list for the tour is in this post. In subsequent sets, Kris has added Written All Over My Face to that set. He's also done some songs just once: Parachute and Paul Simon.
Come back after the shows as I'll put the highlights from these stops in this post!
Updated October 25 with fantastic full-length meet and greet video, joining the fantastic full-length concert video from Portland featuring another new song from Kris! Portland thus earns #gavegoodlist
So Kris debuted another new song last night during his show in Novato, CA. Kris doesn't know what he's calling it yet. Until he decides that, I'm calling it We Will Change. Thank you @kheilig for transcribing the lyrics and providing a nice clear video (embedded below). We still need a little help with some of the lines, so give it a listen and let us know what you think!
I don't know if I'm a gypsy , but I can't seem to stay in one place Everything upon your shelf, you'll replace it with something else And the green that I have loved in my life has a turned a different shade And you've gotten every ? ___in your eye Wonderin when they're gonna fly away Honey, you and I, we will change, change, change It's just the way it is, nobody ever stays the same You and I, we will change, change, change For worse, or for better, but I love changing I used to have a dream of flying Now I wonder how I'll dream in the sky (stumbled here- started wrong lyric then quickly fixed it) Try to find a place on your heart to put another permanent scar We erased all of the letters in my name to start a brand new life (he forgot next lyrics here) Honey, you and I, we will change, change, change It's just the way it is, nobody ever stays the same You and I, we will change, change, change Cuz I'm not who you fell in love with, and you're not who I remember Cuz I'm not going anywhere, and I hope that you aren't either Well I'm not who you fell in love with, and you're not who I remember But I'm not going anywhere, and I hope that you' aren't either ohhhhh Honey, you and I, we will change, change, change It's just the way it is, nobody ever stays the same You and I, we will change, change, change For worse, or for better, but I love changing together. I don't know if I'm a gypsy , but I can't seem to stay in one place And everything upon your shelf, you'll replace it with something else.....
It's been a long while since Kris Allen played regular (non-Christmas) shows, and played them in California. Those fans have waited awhile, and the week of October 15, 2019, Kris returns to play Los Angeles, Berkeley, Novato (Marin County near San Francisco) and Winters (near Sacramento).
The basic 22 song set list for the tour is in this post. In subsequent sets, Kris has added Written All Over My Face to that set, and on one occasion, Parachute.
This week Kris plays Cambridge, MA, Pawling, NY, New York,NY, Fairfield, CT and Washington, D.C. This post will contain the highlights from the New York, Connecticut and Washington, D.C. shows after the break. (We're covering the opening date in Cambridge in this post, where you can see the full 22 song set list!) Come back for updates after each show.
Updated October 7 with even more videos from the DC show! New York City, Fairfield, and Washington DC all received the coveted #gavegoodlist tag.
This post will capture the set list and all the action from the first show. I'm planning regular highlight posts for the other show, grouped by region.
Updated October 3: The fabulous @ameeliu got the very long (set list (22 songs, including one brand new song) and videos. We've also heard some good banter stories. I notice her videos do include the banter. Kris played acoustic, it's a solo show (no band) and it lasted over two hours. Everything after the break!
Kris Allen returns to play the Firefly music cabin in Blue Ridge, Georgia at a small benefit concert for Big Change, "an awesome social impact accelerator that finds inspired youth with potentially world-changing ideas and helps them bring those ideas to life" according to the event's website. He's played this cabin before (shown in the photo above from their 2016 concert).
Updated 6/2/2019: Jonins is awesome as always and snagged Kris' video of the cabin for us. Pam (@granni9) went to the show and got the set list plus video! New stuff! (6/2: Adding a high quality video of Safe Harbor posted by the event's organizers) After the break...
Kris has his weirdest opening gig ever, opening for T-Pain at East Carolina University's 2019 spring concert. I want a duet of Buy U a Drank! The student union is doing a good job of promotion via their Instagram account (with a lot of posts on both stories and the main Instagram feed). According to their IG account, Kris should be on about 5 pm Eastern Time.
Well this charity benefit theme certainly fits Kris well, as he is a big fan of the Beatles! Kris joins other Nashville singer-songwriters (Matthew Perryman Jones, Gabe Dixon, Striking Matches, Jason Eskridge, Paul McDonald, K.S. Rhoads, Elle Macho, The Medium, Carey Ott and Charlie Whitten) for a fun tribute that benefits Musician's Corner, a free summer concert and arts series in Nashville. Kris has been a huge supporter of, and past performer in, Musician's Corner.
The fabulous @ameeliu went to this show and got us the set list and a few videos! Check them out after the jump.
Kris and the band begin their 2018 Christmas tour at the World Cafe Live in Philadelphia.
Updated November 28: The holiday cheer was clear! Highlights include a fantastic new cover of Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). Set list is a little different from last year's tour. We had a great stream thanks to @kheilig and some videos from @kuddlykimmie, who earned Philly the first #gavegoodlist of the tour! Check it all out after the break.
November 29: Added some great photos including set list by @KuddlyKimmie
Kris will join some of his past collaborators for a songwriter's round at the famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. KS Rhoads has played and co-wrote with Kris on the albums Horizons (Lost) and Letting You In (If We Keep Doing Nothing). Marie Miller from Virginia was the opener for the Somethin' About Christmas 2017 tour and the two dueted (beautifully) on Wasting Away. Wish one of them would release it! They have already written one song for Kris' next album (scoop some of you got us from the last tour) and last week, Marie shared in an IG story that they were working on another one. I confess I had to google Emily Kopp; she's described as an indie-soul artist from Orlando.
It is sold out, but late-released tickets may be available at the door. Any good stuff from it (Kris has been known to debut songs at these rounds) will be in this post.
Updated November 9: Marie Miller and Kris' duet on Wasting Away is always the good stuff. Marie was kind enough to share it on IG.
This just popped up on Twitter! Americana-folk-rock band Delta Rae has been doing a weekly residency in Nashville on Wednesdays with special guests. One of tonight's special guests is Kris. It's only $10 and you get Delta Rae (who are very good), former Kris opener Sean McConnell (love his music!), Josh Jenkins of GRO (a band that Kris toured with in 2010), and Jaden Michaels, plus of course, Kris! Go for it Nashville!
Updated 10/25/2018: They all did a Freedom '90 cover together! And it's amazing! Check my Twitter - RTed all the IG stories. Kris fan Tara @ShilohStorm went to the show and got video for us! Check it out below!
They started the tour in the Pacific northwest, but if you missed their July show in Oregon, or if you want to see the changes to the set list since then, they're back!
August 27, 2018: Oregon State Fair - A few videos coming in. Thank you to Aunty CJ for giving us some set list notes. Maddie made another change. Most important, Kris soundchecked the Death of Mr. Jones! #gavegoodlist awarded for that tidbit. Here's a link if you are not familiar with Kris' side project, the Dames.
August 28, 2018: Evergreen State Fair (Washington) - Gorgeous videos have turned up! AND a new Kris song he has never sung before with video! #gave goodlist to you Evergreen!
The tour begins in Redding, California! While former Idols have occasionally appeared with previous Idol tours as a special guest, this is the first time one has gone the distance for the whole tour as a host and featured performer.
We've got a few videos inside the post! I did include the finalists so you have an idea of what the whole show is about. I may have a few editorial comments but just remember season 2.1 fans, I come from the glory days of S8 fandom and my standards are high. It's also hard but good to remember that not everyone loves your favorite. Goodness knows we Kris fans have learned that one. By the way Kris absolutely rules There's Nothing Holding Me Back but of course he does. Need a nice full YouTube of that if you are going to an upcoming show.
We could use more on this show. Please tag me on IG (krisallenlists) or on Twitter (@KrisAllenLists) if you have any photos, videos, set list reports to share. I am hoping to get the complete set list for everyone performing.
The Somethin' About Christmas tour got underway in Annapolis, MD and wow, it looks like a great way to celebrate the holidays! A definite festive retro air from the photos and videos. Plus the first live version of Just Like Snow which is a don't miss. And a new Monster mash-up, with the Grinch song. Kris also joined opener Marie Miller to live premiere their duet on her song, Wasting Away.
All of this after the break! (Updated 12/04/2017 - Much video added including Periscopes of the whole show. )
Kris has a college show scheduled at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois (near the border with Iowa). I think it is intended to be a student event, but don't have firm info on whether the general public can go. Anything we get (and there's normally not much with college shows) will go in this post.
Updated 8/21/2017: Turned out to be a great show, and we got the premiere of a cover of Oasis' Wonderwall (an audience request from a student and a long-desired cover for me). Partial set list and mini-videos inside. Many thanks to @SnapCracklyPop for preserving Kris' instastories for us.
Preview:
Kris is doing another free gig for Musicians Corner. The last one sadly got canceled due to a forecast tropical storm that petered out. Let's hope the forecast works out this time!
Updated 8/5/2017: A rainy day turned into a mild and dry night, perfect for a summer concert under the moon. Have the set list. Kris premiered a new mashup for Monster with Childish Gambino's Redbone. Don't think we will get video - although check out IG stories posted last night by Muscornernash and teamkrisallen (remember, those go poof and disappear after 24 hours). You need to view those on your phone using the IG app. I do have a few photos. Whatever we get will be after the jump.
Musicians Corner presents: A Tribute to Paul Simon's Graceland July 26, 2017 Nashville, TN
Doors 6 PM; Show 8 PM CDT
Preview:
Kris joins musician friends such as Tony Lucca (with whom he co-wrote Never in a Million Years) and Marie Miller (who opened for him on west coast leg of last year's Letting You In tour), for this charity gig in Nashville to benefit Musicians Corner. The theme is a salute to Paul Simon's landmark album Graceland. Kris has participated in similar charity benefit tributes in past years, and we were lucky to have most of them livestreamed and/or video'ed - rare for Nashville shows! We also got some really great performances from them. Hopefully the same will be true this time. Tickets are still available, so if you are in Nashville, go support them!
Updated 8/1/2017: We are in luck as our friend Annie was there and did get video (which has been added to the post). Kris did three songs - one solo, one duet and one group number at the end. Details, videos and photos in the post after the break! Thank you Annie!
Kris, Cale and Torres, along with their friend Jordan Wright, have begun a fun new side project they are calling The Dames. On Thursday, February 23, the Dames debuted their original music, along with two fantastic classic rock covers, in a StageIt show and chat. During the chat, Cale mentioned that they are working on getting the music available for sale. The guys were much cagier when asked why they are calling themselves the Dames, saying "That's classified."
After hearing the new songs, I'd describe The Dames' music as 70s California rock meets Zac Brown Band and Dawes, with a tinge of The Traveling Wilburys and The New Basement Tapes. A lot of people in the chat room heard The Eagles as an influence. So basically adult alternative/classic rock/touch of the tropics and a bit of country music, i.e., the music I love to listen to the most! I love this new direction for the guys and they seemed happy with it too. While Kris does sing some lead, the other three guys do as well. The harmonies among the four are fantastic.
So glad they have shared this new music. To keep up with The Dames, check out their website and follow their Instagram.
Here's the list of songs they performed on Stage It and my take on them. (For the originals, this is my best guess at what they are calling it).
Set List, StageIt, February 23, 2017:
Death of Mr. Jones - PREMIEREThis is the song you hear on the band's website (linked below) and Kris' IG. To me it sounds like Dawes meets Cher singing Dark Lady. I liked the acoustic harmonies in the StageIt. Kris takes the lead vocal on this one.
Blue Bloods - PREMIERE Some interesting harmonies on this song. Torres is lead singer on this.
Against the Wind (cover - Bob Seger) - PREMIERE Pretty straightforward cover of this classic rock song, with Jordan singing lead.
Don't Mess Around with Me - PREMIERE If you don't know what Dawes sounds like, now you do. If Kris was their lead singer. (Check out Dawes too by the way, they are a favorite band of mine and of Cale's, so unsurprisingly, this was my favorite song of the Dames.)
All That I Want is You - PREMIERE Torres sings lead on this very pretty ballad with beautiful harmonies
Alright With You - PREMIERE This is a fun song, very Traveling Wilburys meet Zac Brown Band, with Cale singing lead.
Hungry Heart (cover - Bruce Springsteen) - PREMIERE Loved this. They brought a Hawaiian flair to it! Kris singing lead.

NACA National Convention Showcase February 19, 2017 10 PM EDT
Baltimore, MD
Preview:
Kris plays a showcase for the National Association of Campus Activities' National Convention. As always with these, this is a chance for them to show off to various campus activities boards why they would be a great act to play at college campuses.
Updated 2/20/2017: Kris and the band did a short set that included the premiere of a new cover. We have full video! I avoid her music like the plague myself, but Kris sounds nice on the song. You'll have to tell me if it sounds like the original or not ;).
