FREE! Open to General Public!

Show and List Preview:
I love a college show where the college actually knows they need to promote the show! And the University of Southern Mississippi has delivered, with the most publicity I've ever seen for a college show. Kris should hire their marketing majors!

That said, this event is open to the general public and free, so if you can make it, go! Kris will also be singing the national anthem afterwards at the Golden Eagles basketball game. Go Golden Eagles!

Heading north from Florida, KAB stops off in the small town of Bremen, GA, west of Atlanta on the Alabama/Georgia border. He's doing a bookstore appearance from 3 to 4 pm, and then the show at 8 pm.

I expect this list to be smaller and not have as much media, as is normal when Kris plays a small town.

We've got a lot of fans who traveled for this one! Must be that wintry weather... I anticipate our best list in awhile.

Last year, Kris and band enjoyed the Live Loud Festival cruise - and you enjoyed watching their antics so much, it was the most popular post on this blog in 2014! This year, they are taking on a bigger, more high profile music cruise - the Rock Boat!

The Norwegian Pearl (photo via Norwegian Cruise Lines)
Kris and band and fans will set sail about the Norwegian Pearl (picture above) for a four-day adventure that will take them from the Port of Miami to the Mexican island of Cozumel, just off the Yucatan Peninsula. There will be a lot of fun, games and three, count them, three Kris shows! Plus they've got some friends and former touring companions on the cruise in Green River Ordinance and Andy Suzuki and the Method plus, how could I forget, the Barenaked Ladies are also on this cruise. We'll track it all and post updates as they come in this post.

Kris and band drive a short distance north on A1A and then hang a left inland to their next Florida show, in the large NE Florida city of Jacksonville, FL. One of my best friends in real life lives here, and from visiting her, I can say this is a very underrated and lively city!

The list is sparse again, although this particular venue and the opening act have frequently tweeted about the show. We shall see if we have last minute additions...

Show and List Preview:
After the fun that was the West Palm Beach show, held in South Florida which has some awesome Kris fans, we move to northeast Florida to St. Augustine. It's a beautiful city (I've been there a few times as our family searched for the perfect vacation home place) but it's close to the venue for the following day, and this list is sparse. Kris is our main tweeter, so let's hope for last-minute additions.

Updated: I'll never understand venues that don't promote shows. Paltry partial set list and a bit of media found on IG after the break...

Kris returns to the college town of Gainesville, FL to kick off a January mini-tour of the Sunshine State. He last played this venue a little under two years ago during the Out Alive tour. His request song that time was a fun cover of Get Back by The Beatles. His full band solo shows were the best shows we've had since Horizons came out, so can't wait to see the tweaks the band has made to the set list! (I think it will be full band based on this Instagram post by drummer Brad.)

Show and List Preview:
If you've ever watched an episode of ABC's Nashville, you've seen the Bluebird Cafe. It's the bar that some of the characters work at and frequently showcase their musical talents at. So tonight, Kris Allen, his friend Adam Hambrick and others will do their best Gunnar, Deacon, Avery and Scarlett (well, scratch that last one, you know they will be more interesting than Scarlett) and bring their songs to the venue's unique "In the Round" format. The venue advertises "In the Round" shows in its FAQ as "... the songwriters in the center of the room, where they perform together, telling stories and accompanying each other. It’s a unique set up that allows the audience an up-close-and-personal experience of how songwriters create their music."

The list is pretty small as the venue is small and sold out quickly. Hope to add some people last minute.

Updated: Attendees were thrilled to see this intimate show. Basically each singer talked about a few of their songs and sang them. Set list and media after the break...

Your Picks for Favorite Kris Allen Performances of 2014

Recently, I put out a call on Twitter for your favorite Kris Allen performances of 2014. You didn't disappoint; many of you responded very enthusiastically with some great recommendations!

I've compiled everyone's picks into a YouTube playlist that you can see at the bottom of this post. The videos are in chronological order, even if that meant it did start out with a video of End of the Show from a February IL concert.

Two performances (with two videos each) were nominated by two people each, so technically, they got the most votes and so I'll call them your favorites of the year! Congratulations to Carolina on my Mind (Asheville, NC, September 11) and Lost (Santa Cruz, CA)! All the videos of them that were suggested are on the list.

In case you're wondering what I picked, I selected a few random ones that were fun to watch for me: either because they had college hijinks (End of the Show (Christopher Newport University, February); Alright with Me (San Angelo State); Live Like We're Dying (Univ. of Texas San Antonio)), they were songs I really like a lot that he doesn't play enough (Girl Across the Room, AR Tornado Relief Show, May)(One Love, Live Loud Fest, February) (the new Christmas song (Baby It Ain't Christmas Without You (Scottsdale, AZ, November)) or they're just a jam for the audience to enjoy (Live Like We're Dying, Minneapolis, November). I also am always thrilled when he plays SxSW so I picked the video of the wonderful stream we got from one of his gigs there (Heart of Austin, March). And I am not a big fan of It's Always You, but I thought the addition of the violin that was done in Patchogue, NY really elevated the song for me - so that video was a pick as well.

Of course, speaking of songs and things I'm not a big fan of, have no fear, Chandelier made the list a few times since everyone but me enjoys it. It was interesting to see that although we got a bunch of videos suggested, they tended to be from the same shows (solo: Natick MA, Louisville, Asheville, and Santa Cruz and for the Boyce Avenue tour: Minneapolis, San Francisco and Los Angeles). I was not surprised to see that shows in major cities like DC and NYC did not make the list; I know I wouldn't have put my own videos from DC on this list. Fans in those cities badly need a solo show (DC's last Kris show was in January 2013!) and our stretch of the Boyce tour did not get rave reviews from fans, between Kris' illness and Torres' absence plus VIP event planning issues.

Overall though, I think the playlist really does a great job of showcasing how fun Kris can be to see live. His voice was in amazing form this year and his dancing and joy are evident. There are some well-done covers and some originals that the band just goes to town on. Let's hear it for the band, by the way. They deliver, night in, night out, and there's no doubt that they have Kris' back. And finally, the audience gets really into it in these videos, which is wonderful to see.

The KAB did 96 shows this year (including private gigs we knew about). If someone wants to count up ALL the songs that were done, you'll find a spreadsheet here of them. Let's hope and pray we get many more shows, songs, live performances etc done for enthusiastic audiences everywhere in 2015!

Without further ado, here's the 2014 list for your enjoyment!
