Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris Allen's career via video.
This Thursday, with the imminent release of Kris' new album, Horizons, this Tuesday, August 12 dawning upon us, I thought we'd take a look back at the first time he performed all of the songs on Horizons live. Note, of course, he has not yet performed ALL of Horizons live, but many of the tracks he has been performing for almost a year. (Two of the songs premiered in October 2012!)
We'll use the Amazon UK edition of Horizons for this post, since it's the only one I've seen with bonus tracks. Note that it uses a different order from the US edition. I'm sure hoping the bonus tracks will be added to the US edition. And if you have not made your plans to buy Horizons, do so immediately! It will be available via iTunes, Amazon US, and major US retailers. If you can't afford it, DO NOT PIRATE IT. Instead, check out Kris Allen Fans Unite's awesome gifting effort for someone willing to gift it to you!
Here's the UK Horizons track list with a great video from the first live performance afterwards for each song (except the two he hasn't done live, Lost and Parachute).
1. Beautiful & Wild (Live premiere, February 8, 2014, Watseka, IL)
2. Don't Set Me Free (Live premiere, February 8, 2014, Watseka, IL)
3. In Time (Live premiere, February 8, 2014, Watseka, IL)
4. Lost - Not performed live in front of an audience yet, but Kris did play it live in a Yahoo Music! exclusive session posted this week.
5. Young Love ("Paul Simon") (Live premiere, October 3, 2012, St. Louis, MO)
6. Prove It to You (with Lenachka) (Live premiere, July 18, 2014, Anaheim, CA)
7. Everybody Just Wants to Dance (Live premiere, February 8, 2014, Watseka, IL)
8. It's Always You (Live premiere, February 8, 2014, Watseka, IL)
9. Should I (Live premiere, October 3, 2012, St. Louis, MO)
10. Girl Across the Room (Live premiere, May 9, 2014, Arkansas Disaster Relief Concert)
11. Unique (Live premiere, April 5, 2013, Dayton, OH)
12. Parachute - Not performed live yet.
Enjoy! And spread the word - Horizons is almost here!

Throwback Thursday: Kris Allen and Andy Grammer
Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris' career via video.
As most Kris fans probably know, the first show of the summer for us is tomorrow in Anaheim, CA, as Kris opens for Andy Grammer, and they have a second show together on Saturday in San Diego. Get your tickets now!
But this is not Kris' first interaction with Andy Grammer; in fact, the two have performed in a few shows together and share quite a few fans. So a retrospective seemed in order for this week's #TBT post.
Many Kris fans, including me, first heard of Andy Grammer when we spent October 2010 desperately spamming useless radio station polls in an effort to get Alright With Me played. I can't remember which station it was, but one of them put Alright With Me head to head in a poll with Andy's eventual big hit, Keep Your Head Up. Alright With Me won but it was a very narrow victory and I recall those of us who clicked on Andy's clip liked it a lot.
A few weeks later, Kris and Andy met for the first time while doing a radio station's 2010 Christmas show together in Portland, OR (along with season 9 winner, Lee DeWyze). Here's a picture of their meeting from Andy's Facebook:
Kris fan @mylifeback remembers that both guys were entertaining and fun in the show. Here's KrisTogether's thread for the show (thanks @ISBinLA!) Andy posted this nice comment on Facebook.
Here's a video of Alright With Me taken by @elemental1025 from that show:
Flash forward a few more months into 2011, and Keep Your Head Up had become a big hit! My friend @subeeDC won a radio station contest to meet Andy at a lunchtime concert/meet and greet event, and took me. It was a lot of fun and we did ask Andy about meeting Kris (and @mylifeback) - he was very effusive in his praise of Kris and how much he had enjoyed doing that Portland concert. Here's a video of Andy from that event.
The following year, Kris and Andy met up again when they performed at a Buffalo radio station's Starry Night in the Garden summer concert. Sadly the station has taken down its video of that show, but @altrus01 has some excellent videos of both Kris and Andy on her YouTube channel.
No duets or collabs from Kris and Andy yet, but hopefully they will collaborate in the future! Meanwhile, let's look forward to the shows this week! The Anaheim list and post will be available later tonight. Be sure to let me know (@KrisAllenLists on Twitter) to add you to the lists if I haven't done so!
Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday: May 22, 2012: Happy Anniversary Thank You Camellia
Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris Allen's career via video. This Thursday is a special day because it happens to be the anniversary of the 2012 release of his most recent album, Thank You Camellia.
It's a little bittersweet for me. This album is fantastic and deserved so much more notice and attention than it ended up receiving, mainly due to a lackluster promotional campaign by Kris' record label and management at the time. (Since then, he's gone indie and changed management.) If you are reading this and are a Kris Allen fan but have never gotten Thank You Camellia, I highly recommend that you change that immediately and get the deluxe version ([Amazon]| [iTunes]) as the bonus tracks are some of my favorites.
Combing through YouTube to see what transpired around the release of Thank You Camellia - Kris did a mix of radio/TV interviews and a few listening parties. I thought for our Throwback Thursday video, I'd use this interview with WPRI in Providence, Rhode Island, as it was a good one and has a nice acoustic version of The Vision of Love (the only single off the album):

So sometime today, as we await the release of Kris' next album sometime this year, why not give Thank You Camellia a listen while sipping a delicious Camellia?
Heck, and maybe even do a rewatch of the official video for the Vision of Love? Happy TYCAnniversary!

Throwback Thursday: April 21, 2009: Kris performs She Works Hard for the Money on American Idol
Most Thursdays when we don't have a show, we take a look back at Kris' career via video.
Yesterday, Kris fans received the happy news that Fremantle (the company that owns the rights to American Idol) had decided to unblock the many videos of Idol that had been posted to YouTube. That means you can easily find and rewatch all of the great memories of American Idol Season 8.
Many people point to Kris' performances of Heartless, Ain't No Sunshine and Falling Slowly as key to his Idol victory. While they were integral, they were by no means his only great performances. One I personally feel is very underrated is his venture into "the woman's department" as Paula Abdul called it to cover Donna Summer's She Works Hard for the Money. Check it out on this nice quality video that must have been blocked as soon as it was posted in 2009 but is back up now:

And for a little bonus, here's a full band take on it from a 2012 concert in Fort Myers, Florida:

Throwback Thursday: Something Warm for Kris Allen Fans
It's Throwback Thursday, our weekly date to take a look back at Kris' career via video.
Let's face it. I'm in Virginia. It snowed; heavily by our standards. It's cold. All of you on the east coast have it even worse. Many of you in the midwest as well. It is freezing and we need to warm up. We need something hot. So I went looking for some of my favorite "hot" videos for this week's TBT post.
I sadly discovered that my favorite one - a 2009 performance of Can't Stay Away in Charlotte - has been pulled off YouTube! (There's another one but it's shot from too far away for our purposes today.) But I did find another short excerpt from that same performance that will work...
OK, we'll go with Kris dancing in a hot setting! Here's one more (a classic):
So, in conclusion, for all my cold Kris fans, to keep warm, just dance, preferably while watching videos of Kris on a sunny day in a tank top.
Enjoy! And don't forget to tell me if you are going to one of his upcoming shows so I can add you to the list for it! Also, make sure to check out the Kralendar at the bottom of this page for some new college shows just listed!

Throwback Thursday: Kris' Stage-It Christmas Concert, December 20, 2012
Every Thursday (most of them anyway) we take a look back at Kris' career via video.
Today is a special Thursday, because tonight is Kris' Stage-It Christmas concert. This year it will be held in Nashville and feature Cale, Andrew St. Marie and maybe some others. This is an online concert and a rare opportunity for international fans, not to mention American fans of scorned states and cities, to catch Kris live via the magic of the Internet.
So if you haven't gotten your ticket yet, what the heck are you waiting for? The first batch sold out and the second batch of tickets will too. As of the time I write this (Wednesday night), there are only 44 tickets left! Get yourself a ticket here! And if money is tight or you don't have a Paypal, then just post in the chat area that you are looking to hitch a ride and I'm sure a generous Kris fan will gift you the ticket. (For those wondering, I won't do a list since really everyone in the fandom who is not otherwise engaged with work or school events should go to this show. But I will post the setlist afterwards.)
Still not convinced? Let's take a look at some highlights from last year's Christmas show for Throwback Thursday!
Here was the 2012 setlist:
Part 1 Video, including:
Part 2 Video, including:
And the encore (yes, if enough people buy tickets and tip $, you get an encore/longer show):
And this last hauntingly beautiful number, which he sang right after the Newtown tragedy of 2012...
During the show last year, people got the opportunity to tip the artist (i.e., Kris). The top tippers won cool swag including personalized ornaments. This year, according to a post on Kris' official website, we shall be tipping for the opportunity to win "some exciting new-album related rewards." Sounds good!
See you there in the StageIt Main Stage Chatroom tonight! 8 PM Eastern Standard Time (7 PM Central, 5 PM Pacific).

It's a Kris Allen Halloween Special!
Normally we use Thursdays and Fridays to catch up and look back at Kris media, but this week is Halloween, so today we're going to have a big Kris Allen Halloween Special post!
I asked for spooky and haunting videos of Monster and Out Alive, and here's what you submitted!
@SnapCracklyPop noted that her video of Monster from the Constellation Room show might work and he was purple if not haunting. We'll take it!
But hmmm, as she mentioned, purple does not equal scary enough - but maybe it was the angle?
Because this video of Out Alive from the same show by IAMmandaD features lots of screams and blue misty smoke!
@SnapCracklyPop also pointed me towards this next video of Kris at his show in Evanston, IL, contemplating his 2012 Halloween costume (see the end of this post for what he actually sported).
Now, let's check out the next entry. Here's Monster from an October 2012 show in Texas City, TX, submitted by @maryet34
Ooh smoky and creepy blue lights! Like it!
Our next entry is from @KYNurse45_ - she remembered that the Hamilton show in Washington, DC was quite smoky and submitted her Monster video! (Also, side note: that is my water glass you see in front of the candle giving off a flickering scary glow.)
Shadowy figures, smoky, flickering candles, and sometimes the lighting makes Kris look like a ghost! This video is scary!
So I went looking for Out Alive from the same show and found this video by crybaby4u, with Kris bathed in white smoke and spooky blue lights:
Spooky! As we all know, this show was October 28, 2012, aka the night Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast, and Kris and company ended up stranded in Washington DC for a few days. So they celebrated Halloween in style and luckily The Washington Post snagged some video! Watch it to see their Halloween costumes from last year!
Happy Halloween from Kris Allen Lists! May you all get lots of the good candy! If I have missed any good scary and haunting Kris Halloween videos, please share them in the comment section below!

Flashback Friday: Constellation Room and Halloween Costumes
On Fridays, we try to catch up on tour media around here! We'll check out a video to catch up on the Out Alive Tour. Plus I'll try to give you a bonus video that is worth another look...
Out Alive Tour Video
Going back to work means that my catch-up has slowed down and I'm only up to the February 8, 2013 show at the Constellation Club in Santa Ana (Orange County), California! Luckily some of our best videoers were at this show, and there are no bad videos from what I can tell. I've updated the show post with tons of links to all these videos!
I decided to go with this one because ... only 12 views? OK, it's not coded great for search, but c'mon. It's a great video that shows how hot Kris was that night (not to mention a dancing machine), and how great the crowd was (if only all the crowds would let loose like this)! So let's give it some love - here's Shut That Door as filmed by jsalow2:
Video worth Another Look
Halloween is a week away, and I need your help! Going to showcase some Monster and Out Alive videos next week, and I am looking for the scariest, spookiest ones - y'know the ones with creepy lighting and dry ice all over the place. If you've got a nominee, let me know! I will not be doing a Thursday or Friday post next week; instead, we'll have a Halloween special!
To get you in the mood, here's Kris brainstorming last year with Austin, TX about costumes:
And here he is throwing out Twizzlers to his adoring fans in Atlantic City, 2010:
Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday: October 16, 2013: Little Kids Rock 10th Anniversary Gala, honoring Steven Van Zandt
Every Thursday, we usually take a look back at some point of Kris' career. Tonight is a special post though, because we are going to take a look back at one of my personal favorite events that he was ever involved in: the 10th Anniversary Gala for Little Kids Rock, held October 16, 2012, in New York City.
Tonight, as you may know, Little Kids Rock is holding its annual gala for 2013; this year, the honoree is the great Darlene Love. This is one of Kris' favorite charities and although he's not there tonight and is home making up mysterious mash-ups for us, I'm sure he would want you to check out the online auction to raise funds for Little Kids Rock! There are quite a few great items, especially if you are a Springsteen or a Modern Family fan, just saying!
As we all heard me go on last year, I'm a huge Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band fan, so an evening devoted to the music of Steven Van Zandt? Fantastic! Kris meets Bruce? Bucket List for fangirl me!
One of the highlights was the grand finale, which featured all of the performers doing a spirited and fun rendition of Southside Johnny's classic I Don't Want to Go Home (co-written with Mr. Van Zandt). So for our throwback Thursday video tonight, here's a video you probably missed of this performance, shot by Kris' friend Andy Davis:
In honor of Little Kids Rock and just because I love all of the performers from last year's event, I've updated our show post from last year from the event with videos for all performers (that I could find; if I missed any, let me know), plus interviews, acceptance speeches, blogs, mp3s and more goodies!
Enjoy!

Flashback Friday: February 7, 2013: Canyon Club, Agoura Hills, CA and a September 5, 2012, interview on Good Day LA
Every Friday, we catch up on media around here. First we look at a video from the Out Alive Tour, and second, we check a video from the past you may have missed the first time!
As you may have known from reading his tweets this past week, Kris is in Los Angeles to visit friends, attend his manager's wedding and most importantly (to me anyway), work on that next album! He also took in time to watch his Idol castmate Allison Iraheta perform with her new band. Check out @SnapCracklyPop's timeline on Twitter for more on that.
I thought it would be good to revisit some past trips to Los Angeles for this week's Flashback Friday post:
Out Alive Tour Video:
I've worked my way up to the February 7, 2013, Agoura Hills show at the Canyon Club. (Agoura Hills is a suburb of Los Angeles.) This show is most special because it gave us one of Kris' best cover request songs ever, Wicked Games by Chris Isaak. Enjoy kradamantium's video of it below, and then check out my updated post for the Agoura Hills show for more videos and an mp3 of Wicked Games (courtesy of @summerdaze_)
Past Video:
Well working on the album this week, I thought it would be fun to hear Kris' thoughts after his last album, Thank You Camellia, was released. Here's @isbinla's video of his September 5, 2012 interview on Good Day LA, featuring a performance of Better With You.
Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday: After Dark at Oklahoma State University, October 8, 2012
Every Thursday on non-show nights, we take a look back at Kris' career via video!
This week, we go back to last year to a show that Kris did at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The show was part of a Christian program called After Dark, but with Kris as headliner, it pretty much just turned into a party as this video of Alright with Me shows ... audience storming the stage to dance!
You can find the updated post for the 10/8/12 OSU show here, with additional video links - unfortunately, there's not many videos from this show. If you know of one I missed, send the link to me and I'll update!

Throwback Thursday: October 3, 2012: St. Louis, MO Start of the 2012 Fall Tour & Happy Anniversary to this Blog!
So, a little announcement: I'd forgotten I'd started the blog on September 13, 2012! So tonight, belated Happy Blogaversary to me!
And in researching for tonight's post - October 3, 2012 was the first night of the fall 2012 tour. It all started with a show in St Louis at a venue called Off Broadway. So of course for our weekly look back, we will go back to that awesome tour's beginnings.
Let's begin with the lovely original song, Should I, performed by Kris for VIP Meet and Greet holders that night.
Also, this was the first time they did my favorite of his new songs, Paul Simon!
Heck, he even covered Nelly's St. Louis!
And because we're celebrating, here's pretty much my favorite song from Thank You Camellia (since Kris has not yet done Turn the Pages live).
Props to Debbi Ronnebaum for the awesome videos! Make sure you check them all out. Kris debuted his mash-up of Titanium/Every Breath You Take live at this show, and also revamped versions of Alright with Me and Teach Me How Love Goes.
Now to make that easier, and because it's my Blogaversary, I've gone and updated the post for October 3, 2012 with links to all the videos (thank you Debbi) and mp3s (thank you @summerdaze_) for the whole show! Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday: September 29, 2012: Ain't No Sunshine with Jose Feliciano at Miami Rocks our Troops
On Thursdays on non-show days, we take a look back!
This week we are going back to last year to a charity event on September 29, 2012, benefiting veterans in Miami. Kris was part of a star-studded line-up for Miami Rocks Our Troops, including Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Billy Ray Cyrus, and of course, the great Jose Feliciano who is well known for his own cover of Bill Withers' Ain't No Sunshine.
So it was very cool when Jose invited Kris up to join him in a duet on that song! Here's a nice video of it from Catalm:
Enjoy! See you tomorrow for the Rexburg, ID list! (Kris is doing a show at Brigham Young University-Idaho tomorrow.)

Flashback Friday: Looking back at some new songs! Tucson, AZ and Nashville, TN
On Fridays, we try to catch up on tour media around here! We'll check out a video to catch up on the Out Alive Tour. Plus I'll try to give you a bonus video - maybe one that got overlooked or one that is just worth watching again.
Out Alive Tour:
For those who don't know, at the end of the year I will give you some awesome, in order, almost complete video playlist of every song that Kris did live! Since he toured a lot this year, it's a work going very slowly in progress. I'm up to Tucson, AZ, February 1, and I see from looking at this link that this is one of the very few shows he performed one of his post-TYC songs, Where are You, Amy? Since the video by ZoniDuck sounds amazing and is one of the few performances live of this song, seemed like a great choice to go back and take a look at. He also talks a little bit about the record that he is now working on.
Worth Another Look Video:
Since Kris is in Nashville working hard, I thought I'd take a look at his 3rd and Lindsley concert there from last November. Hoping he can do that again - we got an awesome livestream out of it! Continuing our new songs theme, here's his performance of Paul Simon as videoed by Jackson Jones:
Can't wait to buy the new music!

Throwback Thursday: National Memorial Day Parade, Washington, DC 2012
Every Thursday during the non-touring phases, we take a look back at what Kris was doing in previous years around this time!
Kris will not be back in DC this year; as you know, he's recovering from his recent surgery on his wrist. (For those curious, the Idol at this year's annual PBS concert is Candice Glover, S12 winner.) I will miss Kris' visit to DC for Memorial Day - he was starting to become an annual Memorial Day weekend tradition along with a backyard cookout and the Virginian soccer tournament! Over the weekend as we go back and forth between the tournament and the BBQs, I'll tweet some more fun Kris in DC Memorial Day videos, so please be sure to follow me on Twitter @KrisAllenLists if you don't already.
In both 2011 and 2012, he visited the DC area to participate in the wonderful events we have for Memorial Day. Most of you probably remember his stirring and moving rendition of God Bless the USA at the annual Memorial Day concert on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol in 2011. But last year, he did another event - the annual Memorial Day parade. It was a beautiful sunny day in DC and the parade was livestreamed - so people outside of DC were able to see it, including those in between soccer games (yours truly), and we do have an excellent video of his parade performance of The Vision of Love!

Flashback Friday: New York Edition! (January 13, 2013 and October 16, 2012)
To pass the time when we've got a stretch between shows as we do now ... I'm doing Flashback Friday! Every Friday we'll take a look back and check out a video to catch up on the Out Alive Tour. Plus I'll try to give you a bonus Kris video of yore - maybe one that got overlooked or one that is just worth watching again.
This weekend I'm looking forward to a little getaway with my family to New York City. So for the Out Alive Tour Catch-Up Video of the Week, we're going to flashback to January 13, 2013, when Kris played a show at Littlefield. The request song for the night was his cover of Matchbox 20's Bright Lights, his Idol tour staple, and the Kris Allen Band put its own stamp on it. Check out this video from omgblondeox:

For the Bonus Kris Flashback Video, I thought we'd go back to New York City again and look back at Kris' performance at last October's Little Kids Rock fundraising gala. He did a great job honoring the guest of honor, Steven Van Zandt, with this take on Van Zandt's The Time of Your Life (video by Annave47 aka MJ):
Hope you enjoyed this trip in time to some special NYC performances! If there's an overlooked Kris video or just one you want to enjoy again, please let me know in the comments or on Twitter at @KrisAllenLists.
p.s. Next list is March 28!

Throwback Thursday: Happy Valentine's Day! February 9, 2012
Just bringing back the Throwback Thursday post during this busy tour because it's Valentine's Day!
So Happy Valentine's Day feed! While I'm working up your list for tonight, have some pretty Kris from a year ago singing about love (at the Mint in Los Angeles on February 9, 2012)!

Throwback Thursday: Fall 2012 Videos!
Every Thursday we take a look back at a video of Kris Allen and remember the good times!
This Thursday is a special holiday edition. For Christmas, I gave y'all a playlist of all Kris shows from January - August of 2012! He did so many shows this year, we needed two lists to cover them all! So for today's Throwback Thursday, we'll go back only a few months to one of my favorite performances from this Fall and I will give you a link to part 2 of my Christmas gift: A playlist of all Kris shows from September through November of 2012!
For my favorite performance from this Fall, I have to go with one from the show I actually saw in person! (Washington, DC, The Hamilton, 10/28/12) It's hard to pick just one song though, as it was a great night from start to finish. I found this video by HannaB20 showing the last two songs of the night, including the crowd getting up on stage and dancing! Kind of shows what a Kris show is all about so think it's a great pick to represent 2012.
Looking forward to all the lists for the #OutAliveTour coming in 2013! Get your tickets now and let me know on Twitter @KrisAllenLists what show you are going to!

Throwback Thursday: June 25, 2010: Happy 25th Birthday Kris Allen (Alright with Moo)
We're back after a Thanksgiving break. (Usually) Every Thursday, we take a look back at a great video of Kris!
This week, as you may have already heard, Kris is in Kenya with World Vision USA on a charity mission. Make sure to check out their blog, Pinterest board and/or Facebook page for more information and some great videos!
To celebrate his latest good deeds, thought it would be appropriate this week to look at a fan video made for his birthday two years ago. A group of fans raised money to buy Kris a cow from Heifer International. (The cow is actually donated to a family in Africa.) Enough money was raised to buy over 50 cows and Kris was blown away by it.
Looking at the Alright With Moo video again, it's a great tribute to some other trips and missions Kris has done for charity, including clips from his Rwandan trip for Heifer International/Toms/Bridge2Rwanda, as well as his visit with the UN to aid in Haitian earthquake relief and subsequent American Idol appearance to perform Let It Be to raise money for that effort. It's all set to his version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, with a special guest appearance by a cow dancing to Alright With Me at the end.
So it's quite a video! Kudos to overth3moon for her work on it! Check it out!
