Concert | Kris Allen plays the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, November 2 and 3, 2019

America Gardens Theatre at Epcot World Showcase
November 2 and 3, 2019

Kris takes a break from the 10 Years 1 Night tour and heads to Disney World in Florida for the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. (He's told the meet and greet crowds during the tour he'll be in Disney with the family over Halloween too.)

This is a huge, fall-long, festival that features international food and wines at the various Epcot neighborhoods, paired with concerts by many entertainers. Kris takes his turn on November 2 and 3. There are three shows. Saturday the 2nd, the shows are at 6:30 p.m., 7:45 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. On Sunday the 3rd, the shows are at 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Visit the official site for more information!

Updated November 9 with another great full length video from Epcot plus some more video that's been shared... thank you to all the fans who are passing on these links!

Somethin' About Christmas Tour: December 21, 2017: Tampa, FL

The Attic
Tampa, FL
December 21, 2017
Opening Act: Marie Miller

Kris brings the holiday tour south to Tampa to this intimate venue in Ybor City. If you can get to this show, I would - smallest venue of the tour and it will feel like he's doing a holiday show in your home!  So sorry I wasn't able to make it to this show but a family event kept me from making a trip down to my vacation place near there.

Right now I've got a fantastic interview and some fun photos linked. I just realized from the photo the venue posted that Kris and band basically have gotten to Christmas decorate almost every night this month! No videos yet.

Kris plays a college show that's open to the public and right now, his only show scheduled for Florida for 2017. Just saying! (I know Florida is big - this show is located in northern Florida between Gainesville, Jacksonville and Tallahassee.)

Updated 2/13/2017: Thank you so much @Ang_XoXo17 for streaming and always sharing with your fellow fans. Kris and the band were under the weather and battled some sound issues, but still put on a great show. We've got the set list and some videos too - thank you @JoanieL57!

Comfort and Joy Tour: November 29, 2016: Sarasota, FL

Comfort and Joy Tour
November 29, 2016
Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall
Sarasota, FL
7:30 PM EST

Preview:
Kris begins his run with Jim Brickman's Comfort and Joy holiday tour in one of my absolute favorite places in the world (and definitely in Florida) - the resort town of Sarasota (about an hour or so south of Tampa and about a 1/2 hour south of our family's vacation home). Luckily for you guys, I will be there (thanks American Airlines for that fare sale!) and will give you a full report. I've never been to this venue but have driven by it often and wondered. It's right on beautiful Sarasota Bay near downtown.

If you haven't already seen my post on the Jim Brickman tour, do look it over - my coverage will be different than you are used to. I'm not doing lists, and I wouldn't expect live tweets, fan videos or streams - There was a strict anti-video, anti-phone policy in effect until Jim relaxed it for the final 3 songs..

My notes on the show: It was good and I enjoyed the whole show. Be aware if you go: It's not like a routine club show; it's more like a night at the theatre (dress accordingly please) and the music overall is adult contemporary. The Sarasota crowd loved it and showed a lot of appreciation for Kris' vocals (which were superb). He does a solo and a group number in first half, and a solo and several group numbers in second half. There's banter and costume changes. Strict no phones or cameras rule, which Jim relaxed for the final few numbers. So I did take some IG videos & many people took photos. I've noted what Kris sings in the set list; and added my comments on those numbers. Different type of show from your usual club solo headlining show, but he sounds fantastic and it's the holiday season, so I recommend checking it out!

Private Event: December 10, 2015: X Card Holiday Party, Miami, FL

I don't usually do posts for private events unless it's easy to find things - they aren't publicized before hand and there's normally not much - but luckily for us, this surprise performance last night at a company holiday party in Miami did have a few private event guests to post some videos!

I have no idea what X Card is, but it threw a holiday party for itself (with one gorgeous Christmas tree) last night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino - and booked a pretty great band in the KAB!

Set list (Order uncertain; may be missing songs - if you were there and can help flesh it out, please contact @KrisAllenLists on Twitter or email krinjalists@gmail.com.):

  2. Better With You [Facebook video]
  3. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas [Facebook video]

Kris and band and fans will set sail about the Norwegian Pearl (picture above) for a four-day adventure that will take them from the Port of Miami to the Mexican island of Cozumel, just off the Yucatan Peninsula. There will be a lot of fun, games and three, count them, three Kris shows! Plus they've got some friends and former touring companions on the cruise in Green River Ordinance and Andy Suzuki and the Method plus, how could I forget, the Barenaked Ladies are also on this cruise. We'll track it all and post updates as they come in this post.

The list is sparse again, although this particular venue and the opening act have frequently tweeted about the show. We shall see if we have last minute additions...

It's a beautiful city (I've been there a few times as our family searched for the perfect vacation home place) but it's close to the venue for the following day, and this list is sparse. Kris is our main tweeter, so let's hope for last-minute additions.

Kris returns to the college town of Gainesville, FL to kick off a January mini-tour of the Sunshine State. He last played this venue a little under two years ago during the Out Alive tour. His request song that time was a fun cover of Get Back by The Beatles. His full band solo shows were the best shows we've had since Horizons came out, so can't wait to see the tweaks the band has made to the set list! (I think it will be full band based on this Instagram post by drummer Brad.)

This is it ... the last No Limits Tour show. Some of you may recall that Kris played this particular venue back in 2009 for a radio station's Christmas show. So let's hope he plays his Christmas song! Also will be interesting to see if there are any on-stage collaborations or tour pranks.

After this show, Kris will have a break for Thanksgiving, then play a college gig (Fontbonne State in St. Louis) in early December. Then a Florida tour in January follows, capped off with the Rock Boat cruise.

Throwback Thursday: April 21, 2009: Kris performs She Works Hard for the Money on American Idol

Most Thursdays when we don't have a show, we take a look back at Kris' career via video.

Yesterday, Kris fans received the happy news that Fremantle (the company that owns the rights to American Idol) had decided to unblock the many videos of Idol that had been posted to YouTube. That means you can easily find and rewatch all of the great memories of American Idol Season 8.

Many people point to Kris' performances of Heartless, Ain't No Sunshine and Falling Slowly as key to his Idol victory. While they were integral, they were by no means his only great performances. One I personally feel is very underrated is his venture into "the woman's department" as Paula Abdul called it to cover Donna Summer's She Works Hard for the Money. Check it out on this nice quality video that must have been blocked as soon as it was posted in 2009 but is back up now:

[mp3]

And for a little bonus, here's a full band take on it from a 2012 concert in Fort Myers, Florida:

Event and List Preview
Well we got blindsided a little by this. A Disney worker spilled the beans on Twitter, excited that Kris would stay at her resort. Later, Kris just tweeted he was going to Disney World but didn't say why.

Well, apparently he was participating in some manner in a apparently huge private-but-not-really after-hours Christian music festival, although he was not on the list of concert performers and this is not listed on his schedules at KAO or Fleming.

This flyer contains all we know. It's at Disney and sponsored by World Vision. From making a list for you this morning, radio stations have been doing ticket giveaways and Disney and some of the artists have been promoting this event. No one beyond that flyer has promoted Kris' involvement in it.

Just to get it off my chest, personally I don't think it makes any sense PR-wise to not include this on his list of appearances, given that they've listed something that is basically a HS talent show. Plus, from doing all the lists, I know Kris does have quite a few fans who enjoy Christian music and the other acts involved, and they might have gotten tickets to the festival if they had known about it. Not to mention, Kris fans were very supportive of his efforts for World Vision.

But I know many of my followers enjoy following Kris' every move, so I have made you a list. People are liberally using #nightofjoy as a hashtag on Twitter. There are a lot of people who are going to be there but no guarantees that anyone will tweet about Kris.

Updated After The Show:

Kris played both September 6 and 7. He spoke about WorldVision and played a solo acoustic version of One Love by Bob Marley both nights. The set list post can be found here. Saw a few tweets from his fans saying if they had only known, they wouldn't have turned down opportunities they had to go to Night of Joy. Too bad.

We did get video snippets though:
Upside: There was a decent crowd there and it's good for new fans to gain exposure to Kris. Hopefully the details of his future performance plans can be revealed in time for those who need to travel to be able to make their plans.

Flashback Friday - Kris in Florida (Gainesville 2013 & Sunrise 2009)

On Fridays during non-tour periods, we try to catch up on tour media around here! We'll check out a video to catch up on the Out Alive Tour. Plus I'll try to give you a bonus video - maybe one that got overlooked or one that is just worth watching again.

For the Out Alive Tour Catch-up Video, as mentioned yesterday, I am going out of town to spend a week with the family at our new vacation home in Florida. So I have the Sunshine State on my brain, and I recall that we did not get too many videos right away from the January Gainesville show. So I've decided that we shall enjoy this video of the request song, Get Back, by Krista Lauren. She's also got a nice video of his cover of Garth Brook's The River. If I did it right, this video will lead you to an excellent playlist of all the videos from Gainesville.

For the bonus video, well I see MJ is tapping the Kris fans to go live tweet tonight's Idol tour concert. So it's time to go reminisce about the amazingness that was the Season 8 Idol tour. Remember the cellcasts, the Kradam dance, the plaid, the autograph lines, the bouncing way too close to that hole in the stage? I challenge the Season 12 idols to be even half that much fun.

So tonight's bonus video, continuing our Florida theme, will be a video of Don't Stop Believing from Sunrise, July 29, 2009! Has it really been almost four years?

That was fun, we will try to do some more Idol tour reminiscing this summer. :)

List: February 23-28, 2013: Sophia's Heart Charity Cruise to the Bahamas!

On February 24, 2013, some of Kris' most dedicated fans set sail from Port Canaveral, Florida to the Bahamas aboard the Carnival Sensation to enjoy concerts by Kris, Danny Gokey, Jamar Rogers (the Voice) and Two Story Road (country duo). The cruise benefits Danny's foundation, Sophia's Heart.

Saturday morning brought a whole bunch of "woot flying to Florida!!!" tweets as people arrived in Orlando to spend the night before departure, and it was fun to watch the flail. You'll recognize names from our Out Alive tour lists. For those wondering, cruising with Kris will be his manager, Sean aka Big Daddy, and Cale. Of course, when on the seas, tweeting will probably not be doable (no connection) but hopefully we'll get updates when they are in port.

Sunday 2/24: Danny performs with Jamar and Two Story Road
Tuesday 2/26: Kris performs with Jamar and Two Story Road
Wednesday 2/27: Both Kris and Danny perform

Wishing a happy, relaxing and fun adventure to all on the cruise! We'll update this post through the cruise as info comes in.

Highlights based on list tweets:

Thursday 2/28:
The cruise has docked back safely in Florida with only one minor international incident involving Kris and Cale, and the cruisers brought us these goodies:
  • Kris singing Land of Smiles on Tuesday via @ArtistSupporter
  • Wednesday set list (partial?): Faith medley, Out Alive, Killing Me Softly and with the other performers: Here I Am to Worship and Signed Sealed Delivered
  • Also, Wednesday night, they set up a little gathering to watch Idol together w/ commentary from Kris, Danny and Jamar.
  • Lots of great pictures now being tweeted by our list.

Wednesday 2/27:
  • Tonight all of the acts performed together (via @ArtistSupporter)
  • Several people got videos of last night's show by Kris so we look forward to that!

Tuesday 2/26:
  • Amazing set list during Kris' performance! The request songs (there were three in the end) were Land of Smiles (with Kris on guitar!) and Running (off Brand New Shoes) and Love Too Much (an unreleased demo from the KATA era). Full set included BWY, AWM, WAYA (aka Amy aka the song for Newtown), Fighters, LYA, Monster, LLWD and STD. Will be doing the usual set list post and linking it here once we get the video!
  • Kris soundchecking Running (via @LittlePawns)
  • Kris performs at 5:30 EST (Bahamas are in the Eastern time zone) with Jamar Rogers. Kris auctioned off a song request to benefit Sophia's Heart, so he'll sing the winning bid!
