Christmas Tour 2018: Kris and the band return to DC on November 29 for Christmas

City Winery DC
November 29, 2018
VIP: 4:45 PM Doors 6 PM Show 8 PM
Opener: Sawyer

Kris and band head next to Washington, DC. They may not realize that this particular City Winery is in a dodgy neighborhood (it's next to the dodgy neighborhood my real-life office is in). If you go, don't go alone and definitely plan out your transportation, as you aren't going to be walking to the Metro. Driving/valet parking or Uber is the best bet. I'm sad that they didn't go back to the adorable place they had the show in last year. But I'll be there! I won the VIP Facebook contest. Going with one of the Dirty Minds, so you know this show will be fun!

Updated November 30: What a fun show! And a great VIP meet and greet. Lots of scoop. We met Kris' mom Kimberly too - she's in DC for a business trip and happily got to see her son's show. We do have a lot of videos and photos. I'm swamped and may not get them all up until later this weekend. But I'm on it!

Idol Tour 2018: September 16: The Finale! Kris Allen brings DC another hurricane and the 2.1 Idols

The tour finale is this Sunday in Washington, DC.

Not the first time Kris has brought a hurricane to DC (definitely click that link, the video is funny), just saying. I remember driving home from this show as Hurricane Sandy hit. We did get lucky this time with Hurricane Florence; however, the remnants are scheduled to hit DC on Monday. My best thoughts to anyone in the Carolinas reading this.

September 16: Warner Theatre, Washington, DC  - I did make the show! It was fast-paced and a lot of fun. We had a Periscope and another Kris fan took some videos. I'll keep adding them to the post as he uploads them (Thanks Eric!) You know DC always #givesgoodlist!

The set list is here.

Updated September 17 with my thoughts and the videos (after the break)! Hope Kris and the Idols don't have travel issues today. Florence is in SW VA and the outer bands are going to give DC a lot of rain. My thoughts are with all of you in the Carolinas.

Somethin' About Christmas Tour: December 7, 2017: Washington, DC

Miracle Theatre
Washington, D.C.
December 7, 2017
Opening Act: Marie Miller
Ticket and info link - hope to see you there tonight!

Kris and Marie bring the tour to Washington, DC. Marie is from Shenandoah country in Northern Virginia so this will be close to a hometown show for her. And DC is always a great city for Kris. I will be going to this show.

A little promo after the break with the expected set list. As is typical with DC, we'll have a lot of media even before the show starts!

Updated 12/16/2017: What a great show! Don't miss it if it comes to your town. More thoughts to come inside the post. Along with videos and photos! Of course DC will earn #gavegoodlist even if it was a flatter crowd than we normally are - lots going on in our nation's capitol has kind of tampered down the fun after hours in general sadly. I hope Kris knows those of us who came out absolutely loved the show! Check out all our videos and photos after the break!

Getaway Tour: April 21, 2017: Washington, DC

Concert with Parachute
April 21, 2017
Rock and Roll Hotel
Washington, DC
Doors 7:00 PM | Show 8:00 PM EDT
SOLD OUT

Preview:
Kris is on a month-long acoustic tour with his good friends in the pop rock band Parachute. Parachute, who is fantastic about fan service, is letting their fans vote on their set list. Kris has keyboardist Andrew St. Marie in tow and he is sharing a bus with Parachute. The venues are smaller than either act filled last tour (apparently they are favorite venues of Parachute's), and so far the crowds have been lively and showing up early to line up. I've got Kris' expected set list in the post; Will post what I can find for Parachute's set list after the show (since it's changing each time).

The tour continues Friday night in Washington, DC at this sold out show (not surprising since both acts have sold out larger venues in this town; I was honestly surprised they booked it at this place). Be aware that this particular venue is not near public transportation and parking might be tough. I'd use Lyft, Uber or take a cab. (If you are wondering, I am DC-area but I'm not going to this one; decided to go to Sunday's show in Virginia instead.)

Information for this specific show can be found after the break!

Updated 4/26/2017:  Confirmed set list, plus some great videos and photos; thanks to Kira, Eric and Olivia, DC will be awarded #gavegoodlist! See it all after the break... Updated 4/26 with a new set of videos discovered on Facebook.

Comfort and Joy Tour: December 10, 2016: College Park, Maryland

Comfort and Joy Tour
December 10, 2016
The Clarice
Dekelboum Concert Hall
College Park, MD
7:30 PM EST

Preview:
Kris goes to the land of the terrapins when the Comfort and Joy Tour stops at this venue on the University of Maryland campus. Not the most convenient venue for people who live in the nation's capital, but some regulars from there (mostly the Maryland-based ones) will be going. (In case you are wondering, I'm not going to this since I saw the tour in Sarasota.)

Updated 12/15/2016: Ha ha well you know people from DC can be sneeky and so we do have a few videos and photos taken when Jim wasn't looking! ;) They did play with set list order and Tracy missed this performance too.

Letting You In Tour: June 8, 2016: Washington, DC (FINALLY)

Screencap by @KrisAllenLists
Concert
June 8, 2016 (rescheduled from April 5; tickets honored)
The Hamilton
Washington, DC
Doors 6:30 PM EDT
Show 7:30 PM EDT
Opening Acts: Sean McConnell and Tyler Woolf

Show and List Preview:
Well it's about time Kris plays my hometown, considering he has not done a proper headlining gig in DC since 2012 (at this same venue). (To be fair to Kris, he played a fantastic show in the northern VA suburbs of DC in January 2013 and a Boyce Avenue gig in October 2014 in the MD suburbs.) The Hamilton is an awesome venue with great acoustics, and I am looking forward to actually going to a headlining Kris Allen show for the first time since that January 2013 VA show. Really, this whole show should have a great vibe, especially given how long this area of the country has gone without a show. On top of it, local top 40 radio station Mix 107.3 is doing a "pre-party" for this concert which is promotion I would not have expected from them, but definitely welcome! And not to be outdone, local Kris-friendly radio station (they've spun Waves) 94.7 FreshFM is co-sponsoring a breakfast with Kris on its acoustic stage. People going to that event are on the list as well.

Updated: This was such a great show and the people of DC were thrilled to have Kris back in concert after a long time with no show. Post has been updated with a ton of media (including videos, mp3s and photos) and my thoughts (since I actually went) after the break...

No Limits Tour: October 23, 2014: the Fillmore, Silver Spring, Maryland (Washington, DC area)

No Limits Tour
Boyce Avenue with Kris Allen

October 23, 2014

The Fillmore

Silver Spring, MD

6:00 PM EDT Doors
7:00 PM EDT Show

Opening Act: Curtis Peoples

All Ages

Show and List Preview:
Kris and Boyce Avenue bring the tour to the DC suburb of Silver Spring (no s on the end), Maryland. DC lists are some of our rowdier lists. We may not video every song but you'll definitely see flail as our area loves Kris.

Unlike other lists, this time I'll be on it (that is, my personal twitter account will be on it). So you'll definitely get show tweets, set list tweets and bad photos. I may insta-video. We'll see! I haven't seen my Kris friends in the area in 22 months thanks to Kris' unreasonable and unexplained scorn of one of his most supportive cities, Washington, DC. Not that we're a little butthurt about that or anything.

So I've got some major catch-up to do on a rare mom's night out, and that's my priority! If the venue has wifi, I'll put my scorn of Chandelier to good use and update the list then. Otherwise, don't sweat it, all the best DC Kris fans are already on this list. :)

Updated: Great to see Kris live again! My thoughts & videos, and more media after the jump!

Throwback Thursday: Sweet Sixteen Edition

Every Thursday when we don't have a show, we take a look back at Kris' career via video.

Well, this week I got very excited because my alma mater, the University of Virginia, made the sweet sixteen in the NCAA Basketball tournament! So excited that I promised you guys a special celebratory post.

Sadly, Kris has yet to play Charlottesville, the lovely city where UVA is located. I do not understand that at all because his sound is PERFECT for the lively C-ville music scene, there are awesome venues there that regularly book other Fleming Artists and there are some great college radio stations there that his music would fit perfectly on. But he hasn't, so I don't have any handy videos for TBT from there.

So with the obvious thing out the window, I have decided to celebrate instead by creating a fun little Virginia Sweet 16-themed Kris YouTube playlist for you! The videos on the list are all performances I really enjoyed, and they were either a) shot by Virginians (who traveled to shows in Atlantic City or Washington DC) and/or b) shot in Virginia (mostly at the Jammin Java show, but I did work CNU in there) or c) best of all, shot by Virginians in Virginia. For fun, I tried to follow his more recent set list order, so that we here in Virginia can imagine what a Kris show would be like now should we ever get one again. Unfortunately, none of us who live here in Virginia have shot the new songs, and the one show he did them at in Virginia yielded very few videos (as it was for CNU students only), so I subbed in older ones shot by VA/in VA for all but End of the Show (which is in there!). So all of the videos are good stuff; enjoy!

p.s. I've been having fun with the NCAA pool that JakeVP set up. I'm in 3rd now!  The good news is that I have the most possible points left (in part thanks to my beloved Cavaliers). My (biased) bracket is here if you want to check it out.

It's a Kris Allen Halloween Special!

Normally we use Thursdays and Fridays to catch up and look back at Kris media, but this week is Halloween, so today we're going to have a big Kris Allen Halloween Special post!

I asked for spooky and haunting videos of Monster and Out Alive, and here's what you submitted!

@SnapCracklyPop noted that her video of Monster from the Constellation Room show might work and he was purple if not haunting. We'll take it!

But hmmm, as she mentioned, purple does not equal scary enough - but maybe it was the angle?

Because this video of Out Alive from the same show by IAMmandaD features lots of screams and blue misty smoke!

@SnapCracklyPop also pointed me towards this next video of Kris at his show in Evanston, IL, contemplating his 2012 Halloween costume (see the end of this post for what he actually sported).

Now, let's check out the next entry. Here's Monster from an October 2012 show in Texas City, TX, submitted by @maryet34

Ooh smoky and creepy blue lights! Like it!

Our next entry is from @KYNurse45_ - she remembered that the Hamilton show in Washington, DC was quite smoky and submitted her Monster video! (Also, side note: that is my water glass you see in front of the candle giving off a flickering scary glow.)

Shadowy figures, smoky, flickering candles, and sometimes the lighting makes Kris look like a ghost! This video is scary!

So I went looking for Out Alive from the same show and found this video by crybaby4u, with Kris bathed in white smoke and spooky blue lights:

Spooky! As we all know, this show was October 28, 2012, aka the night Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast, and Kris and company ended up stranded in Washington DC for a few days. So they celebrated Halloween in style and luckily The Washington Post snagged some video! Watch it to see their Halloween costumes from last year!

Happy Halloween from Kris Allen Lists! May you all get lots of the good candy! If I have missed any good scary and haunting Kris Halloween videos, please share them in the comment section below!

Throwback Thursday: October 24, 2010: Kris opens for Lifehouse in Washington, DC

Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris' career via video.

This week, I'm going to be even more selfish than normal, because I realized that exactly three years ago today was the first time Kris played an actual concert in my hometown of Washington, DC (besides the Idol tour and as opposed to a radio or charity appearance), when he came here to open for Lifehouse in their 2010 tour. So we are doing quite the personal throwback tonight.

This was such a fun concert - got together with a bunch of Kris fan friends at one person's condo for dinner and drinks, then shuttled over to the venue, DAR Constitution Hall, a beautiful place with fantastic acoustics.

Funny anecdote: This was around the time Alright with Me had become KATA's 3rd single and we DC people had begged one of the local radio stations which will go nameless to play it without success. A few of us went up to the radio station's table at the show to plead our case and received the response of "well, ok, do you want a nail file with the station's name?"

But on to the show! It was great. Alyssa Bernal ("Cali, Cali, Cali," remember?) opened, followed by Kris. He was very impressed by DC, as shown in this video by kmt8871 of Alright With Me:

And as you can hear, DC was (and always is) quite responsive to him! It's one of his best cities to play in terms of a responsive audience.

This was also the night he dropped Man in the Mirror from the set list and replaced it with a cover of Everybody Rules the World by Tears for Fears, segueing into an awesome full band Is It Over: Here's a great video from Marilyn Yang:

This was just a great night, capped off with a great performance from Lifehouse and a fun conversation with Cale. Finally, the highlight came when my friend and I met Kris (for me it was the first time) after the show. He was tired and we look super goofy in our pictures with him, but I remember our drive to our friend's place afterwards; we were super giddy and thrilled to have met him.

So all in all, one of my favorite concerts ever! Here's some show info and additional links in case you want to see more! If you have some media to share from this show, please pass it along and I'll link it below!

The Show!

Throwback Thursday: National Memorial Day Parade, Washington, DC 2012

Every Thursday during the non-touring phases, we take a look back at what Kris was doing in previous years around this time!

In both 2011 and 2012, he visited the DC area to participate in the wonderful events we have for Memorial Day. Most of you probably remember his stirring and moving rendition of God Bless the USA at the annual Memorial Day concert on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol in 2011. But last year, he did another event - the annual Memorial Day parade. It was a beautiful sunny day in DC and the parade was livestreamed - so people outside of DC were able to see it, including those in between soccer games (yours truly), and we do have an excellent video of his parade performance of The Vision of Love!

Kris will not be back in DC this year; as you know, he's recovering from his recent surgery on his wrist. (For those curious, the Idol at this year's annual PBS concert is Candice Glover, S12 winner.) I will miss Kris' visit to DC for Memorial Day - he was starting to become an annual Memorial Day weekend tradition along with a backyard cookout and the Virginian soccer tournament! Over the weekend as we go back and forth between the tournament and the BBQs, I'll tweet some more fun Kris in DC Memorial Day videos, so please be sure to follow me on Twitter @KrisAllenLists if you don't already.

List: January 15, 2013: Jammin' Java, Vienna, VA

Jammin' Java
Vienna, VA (Washington, DC)
January 15, 2013
8:00 pm EST

Opening: Jillette Johnson

Well tonight brings you one of the best lists of the tour. Of course, being from Northern Virginia, I'm biased, but Kris loves DC, DC loves Kris, and the shows in this area are always amongst the best. The list is already flailing and we just woke up. (I'm on it! See if you can figure out which one is me and you're welcome to follow on Twitter.) On top of it, this is Kris' first show in Virginia proper and this state is made for him musically, so I'll expect him to book some dates in Virginia Beach and Charlottesville after he sees how much we Virginians enjoy his music! ;P

This venue is an interesting one. It's in a strip mall and it doesn't look like much, but there is a lot going on behind those doors. During the day, it's a coffeehouse (hence the name) and hosts concerts for young children with family friendly acts. At night, it rents out for private events (my teen attended a large Bat Mitzvah here) and hosts concerts with national up and coming acts and longtime favorites.

So with a lot of list regulars tonight, me flailing wildly and excited northern Virginians, you are going to have fun! This would be a good night to go visit littlepawns.com and chat with other Kris fans in the chat room while the show's ongoing.

Updated: Set List: January 15, 2013, Jammin' Java, Vienna

Throwback Thursday: Fall 2012 Videos!

Every Thursday we take a look back at a video of Kris Allen and remember the good times!

This Thursday is a special holiday edition. For Christmas, I gave y'all a playlist of all Kris shows from January - August of 2012! He did so many shows this year, we needed two lists to cover them all! So for today's Throwback Thursday, we'll go back only a few months to one of my favorite performances from this Fall and I will give you a link to part 2 of my Christmas gift: A playlist of all Kris shows from September through November of 2012!

For my favorite performance from this Fall, I have to go with one from the show I actually saw in person! (Washington, DC, The Hamilton, 10/28/12) It's hard to pick just one song though, as it was a great night from start to finish. I found this video by HannaB20 showing the last two songs of the night, including the crowd getting up on stage and dancing! Kind of shows what a Kris show is all about so think it's a great pick to represent 2012.

Looking forward to all the lists for the #OutAliveTour coming in 2013! Get your tickets now and let me know on Twitter @KrisAllenLists what show you are going to!

Throwback Thursday: RIP Live Let It Rain 11/09/09

Every Thursday we take a look back and relive the highlights of being a Kris Allen fan!

Three years ago, Kris played Live in the Vineyard for the first time. It marked the only time he has ever performed Let It Rain from the KATA album live.

That's a shame, because he did a beautiful job! Enjoy!

And how do we know he will never do this again? Well, he has told fans a few times when talking with them that it's not one of his favorites. And then he had this reaction at 1:10 of the video below when I requested it in DC last week:

Hopefully one day we can all change his mind. In the meantime, enjoy this week's throwback to Let It Rain, Live in the Vineyard 2009, and bonus throwback of Blindfolded from October 28, 2012!

And finally, because I forgot to do Throwback Thursday last week, here is my apology offering - a link to a place to download Let It Rain from LITV:

Happy Listening!

October 28, 2012: The Hamilton, Washington, DC

Concert
The Hamilton
Washington, DC

7:30 pm Eastern

Well, this one should be a very interesting list! One, many are traveling to DC for this show and DC already is a Kris stronghold. Your very own KAL is DC-based! (I'll be at the show!) Two, the area is under a hurricane watch, although fortunately, as of tonight, the worst will be occurring on Monday. You'll notice I put the local subway and weather guy on it. And three, Kris gave the New York crowd a bunch of surprises last night (including the debut of Wipe it Away from Brand New Shoes)! So who knows what we are in store for!?

The list tonight will be facilitated by @Altrus01 and thank you very much to her for the help!

Set list and some photos here
