The tour finale is this Sunday in Washington, DC.
Not the first time Kris has brought a hurricane to DC (definitely click that link, the video is funny), just saying. I remember driving home from this show as Hurricane Sandy hit. We did get lucky this time with Hurricane Florence; however, the remnants are scheduled to hit DC on Monday. My best thoughts to anyone in the Carolinas reading this.
September 16: Warner Theatre, Washington, DC - I did make the show! It was fast-paced and a lot of fun. We had a Periscope and another Kris fan took some videos. I'll keep adding them to the post as he uploads them (Thanks Eric!) You know DC always #givesgoodlist!
The set list is here.
Updated September 17 with my thoughts and the videos (after the break)! Hope Kris and the Idols don't have travel issues today. Florence is in SW VA and the outer bands are going to give DC a lot of rain. My thoughts are with all of you in the Carolinas.
September 17: Washington DC
Highlights for Kris fans- Kris' set of course! This was the first time he's played Falling Slowly in DC.
This Periscope video has the whole set, plus the group number that came before it. All the idols came out for Live Like We're Dying. This was a touching moment in Kris' set!
Kris brought out all the Idols to thank them for an awesome tour!! Such a sweet moment! I’m so glad Kris joined this tour this summer! pic.twitter.com/Kk1STDqnjx— Kira Capri (@KiraCapri919) September 17, 2018
Kira has it right:
Oh and in case anyone had any doubts... I cried hearing When All The Stars Have Died again tonight. It’s one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. @KrisAllen 💙 pic.twitter.com/kB6r8vYn5Q— Kira Capri (@KiraCapri919) September 17, 2018
- Walk like an Egyptian, followed by Caleb's FANTASTIC Don't Close Your Eyes. Caleb was so good live and he speaks really well too. Super impressed! [Periscope video]
- Periscope video of Caleb/Maddie being cute, a girl touching Cade's hair and Gabby doing a great job on Don't Stop Believing. So much better live than it was on Idol. Oh and "Uncle" Kris overseeing it all.
- The other nice surprise was Gabby SLAYING My Church! [Periscope video] As you can tell, we in DC enjoy our country music.
- My favorite non-Kris number throughout the tour has been Caleb's set with help from Cade and Kris. Swipe to third in set to see Wrecking Ball!
- Here's Periscope video of Maddie's set. I thought she did Gone Gone Gone well and her speech was very touching.
- And the finale! [Periscope video] Nothing held Kris back except annoying DC residents trying to beat traffic and catch their trains so they left early. They all sounded great!
- For old time's sake, I did stalk the buses until I had to catch my train home. Only Michael came out. Security concerns apparently.

My thoughts: It was a fun night and I am really glad I got to go! Very fast-paced show and the audience was so responsive! The boy band was interminable. The bartender literally said, "get the large wine" as they boomed in the background. All of the idols were in good voice. Gabby and Caleb impressed me the most; both vocally and with fantastic stage presence, but also with their understanding that they should stay in the background when taking turns at background vocals, and then they could shine when they got their turn up front. (Something a couple of the rest need to learn.) Gabby's voice blends really well with Kris'. I was a Maddie voter and she did well, but she was in her feels, as a few of them were. Cade has MAJOR heart eyes for Kris and Kris clearly likes him too. I hope he joins KAB! His guitar skills and stage presence are great. The whole group seems to love each other and look up to Kris, so that's nice! Will enjoy following the careers of this bunch.
