The rumors are true and Kris will be joining the top 7 of American Idol on tour this summer (July 11 through September 16) as a "special guest." The tour is playing smaller indoor venues in the 800-2000 seats range (the DC venue seats 1,847 and is a great place to see a show, having seen a few there). Kris is supposed to perform and I was happy to see him liking suggestions on social media that he duet with Maddie, who is the blond on the left bottom row above and easily the best of this year's bunch.
I'll post any overall tour news in this post and keep it pinned. It looks like this is our chance to see Kris live this year unless you currently attend a D3 college.
