List: March 28, 2013: Colby Sawyer College, New London, NH

Wheeler Hall
Colby Sawyer College
New London, NH

8:00 PM EDT

Kris does the first of several college campus concerts he has scheduled this Spring at Colby Sawyer College. Colby Sawyer is a private college in New London, NH and this concert is strictly students only - to the point, the college activities board asked Kris fans not to promote it (which is why you have not seen Purple Pawns on it like they normally are for east coast shows). (Never fear, those of you in New Hampshire who don't attend this college - you do get a show on April 25, at the Flying Monkey in Plymouth.)

Nonetheless, a few townies as we used to call them back in my day are plotting to get in, and the students on the college activities board's Facebook page are enthusiastically RSVPing, and for once were easily found on Twitter, so we do have a good-sized list for this type of show. Don't expect many tweets during the show, but you should see some afterwards, I'd think.

Flashback Friday: New York Edition! (January 13, 2013 and October 16, 2012)

To pass the time when we've got a stretch between shows as we do now ... I'm doing Flashback Friday! Every Friday we'll take a look back and check out a video to catch up on the Out Alive Tour. Plus I'll try to give you a bonus Kris video of yore - maybe one that got overlooked or one that is just worth watching again.

This weekend I'm looking forward to a little getaway with my family to New York City. So for the Out Alive Tour Catch-Up Video of the Week, we're going to flashback to January 13, 2013, when Kris played a show at Littlefield. The request song for the night was his cover of Matchbox 20's Bright Lights, his Idol tour staple, and the Kris Allen Band put its own stamp on it. Check out this video from omgblondeox:

For the Bonus Kris Flashback Video, I thought we'd go back to New York City again and look back at Kris' performance at last October's Little Kids Rock fundraising gala. He did a great job honoring the guest of honor, Steven Van Zandt, with this take on Van Zandt's The Time of Your Life (video by Annave47 aka MJ):

Hope you enjoyed this trip in time to some special NYC performances! If there's an overlooked Kris video or just one you want to enjoy again, please let me know in the comments or on Twitter at @KrisAllenLists.

p.s. Next list is March 28!

Flashback Friday! Festival Time!

We've started a new thing to pass the time... Flashback Friday! Every Friday we'll take a look back and check out a video to catch up on the Out Alive Tour. Plus I'll try to give you a bonus video - maybe one that got overlooked or one that is just worth watching again.

For our Out Alive Tour catch up, let's go check out one of the many videos shot by the lovely @ameeliu - just because it's her birthday today and she is one of the most awesome Kris Allen fans out there!

For the bonus video, as you know, Kris is at South by Southwest this week for a showcase tomorrow! I thought it would be great to go back to the last time he played a music festival - that would be the Alive Festival in Ohio, in 2011. So here's another video by @ameeliu - Falling Slowly/With or Without You - that is just stellar from that show.

Enjoy! And be sure to check out the South by Southwest Festival Post with its embedded twitter list - Kris' show is tomorrow night, March 16, 2013!

List: SXSW Festival, Austin, TX, March 2013

South by Southwest Festival: March 12-17 (Music)

Kris' Official Gig:
Antones
Austin, TX
March 16, 2013
8 pm CDT

Kris is playing SXSW! This is huge news, as he is one of the first Idols to play this well-known music festival, which showcases indie and up and coming artists, but is also known for surprise shows featuring well-known superstars.

To get into the official SXSW shows, it's not easy. It requires buying a badge or a wristband, or lucking out if a venue does not fill up with industry insiders with badges and wristbands. Luckily, many are able to attend the many unofficial shows that spring up during the festival. At this writing, it is unknown if Kris will play any surprise or unofficial shows. We do know he will participate in the Fleming Artists showcase at the historic Antone's venue, on Saturday, March 16.

Flashback Friday Begins! Flashback to January 19 and February 14, 2013!

I got a fresh idea last night for something to do during our long break between shows. I was folding laundry and as I like to do when I do that, catching up on YouTube.

Although I stayed on top of the set lists and media, I am still pretty behind on watching videos! And I hadn't seen Kris' cover of Ellie Goulding's Lights that he performed in Charleston, South Carolina on January 19. So after watching that last night, inspiration struck.

So I've decided that every Friday, we will have Flashback Friday and try to catch up on some videos! I'll post a video or two each Friday that I am catching up on. And I'll a post a second video that needs some love from Kris fans - maybe the person got it up late or after a more popular channel, so it just didn't get the hits it deserved. I'll also update the set list blog post for the shows with any great channels I stumble on. Hoping this will get us all caught up!

So for my "catch-up" video: Here's Kris performing Lights at the Music Farm in Charleston (great video by headonfire1105):

And for the "give this great video some hits will ya" entry this week: Here's an awesome video by GrUmPiTa of Kris performing Seven Nation Army (the White Stripes cover) and Shut That Door from his show at Cafe du Nord in San Francisco, California on February 14, 2013. Krale fans should not miss this. Unfortunately, GrUmPiTa has a big disclaimer saying you cannot use her videos on any website (perhaps explaining her low view count) but click the link to check it out.

If you've got a great video to suggest or nominate for future Flashback Fridays, let me know in the comments or hit me up on Twitter @KrisAllenLists.

Catching Up on Kris Allen Out Alive Tour Media

Ahhh and now we have a break! After so many wonderful Kris Allen Out Alive Tour shows, now it's time to catch up on all that great media - pictures, videos and what not!

To help you out, and to help guide new fans Kris made, I thought I'd share where I like to go to find Kris stuff and fun:

Kris Allen Media (no twitter) - This is the place to find the BEST mp3s, plus a recap of every show with video and picture links. You will need an account with Live Journal (you can use your Twitter or Facebook account) in order to access the mp3s.

By the way, other smart Twitter accounts to follow if you enjoy Kris live mp3s: @dawnmyst, @summerdaze_ and @p_eleph

Kris Allen Setlists (no twitter) - This is a page I keep up - it's meant to be an archive for every show of what Kris sang. In the past year, I've started adding links to the best YouTube channels with videos of a show.

Little Pawns (@LittlePawns) - This is Kris' official street team and is a great resource for his calendar of events! (Better than his Facebook page, to be honest.) Plus it is worth signing up with them just for the weekly emailed "Pawncast" - a great way to recap the past week of Kris and see what's ahead for the next week. Also be sure to follow the Twitter account of the regional street team that covers where you live:
@RedPawns: CA, OR, WA
@BluePawns: TX, and all mountain time zone states
@GreenPawns: The midwest from the Dakotas through Arkansas
@YellowPawns: Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and the south
@PurplePawns: The mid-atlantic and northeast
@GrayPawns: All other countries

The Dirty Minds (@TheDirtyMinds) - This is the "official unofficial group of super fans" and many of our great list tweets came from their membership! Obviously, they specialize in the hotness that is Kris. This March, they are doing a fun thing called the #30DaysofKrisAllen and will tweet a different topic each day - post your response and that hashtag to participate!

Fourteen Plums (@FourteenPlums) - This is a great blog with all kinds of Kris media - not updated as quickly, which means they have time to add the stuff that pops up later! (Believe it or not, not every Kris fan uploads a video as soon as they get home from the show! coughAspencough) And they are great on Twitter for spreading the word of all things Kris.

Kris Allen Addicts (@KAAddicts) - Another great blog/fansite for Kris that also keeps you updated on his news and media!

As for me for this small break - I'm going to work on the video playlists I keep on KAL's YouTube Channel to update them for this past tour leg. Rather than wait for me, I suggest you check out @snapcracklypop's playlist of all the covers Kris did!
