Monroe County Community College

50th Anniversary Celebration Festival

June 21, 2014 (Kris' Birthday)

Monroe CCC Campus

8:30 PM EDT

Show and List Preview:
Kris plays the 50th anniversary festival for a community college in Southern Michigan. Although it is set on a college campus, this event is free, open to the public and all ages. Not to mention, it is taking place on Kris' birthday! We've got a few good tweeters on our list, but the list overall is very small. But this show is near Toledo and Detroit, and the festival sounds like a lot of fun, so I've got a feeling more will pop out of the woodwork.

Throwback Thursday: June 25, 2011: Kris Allen and Kris Allen Band perform at the ALIVE Festival, Mineral City, Ohio

Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris' career via video.

One show that remains fondly in the heart of many Kris fans is his 2011 appearance at the Alive Christian Music Festival. It may not sound like it, but this is an honest to goodness rock music festival and Kris and band delivered an amazing set for which many fans traveled from afar! They looked fantastic, had a blast with a lively crowd and were so amazing that three years later, fans are reminiscing about how much they enjoyed that show.

So here is a video of their set closer, Come Together! Check out that catwalk!

And for fun, here is the KAB playing some wiffleball before their set:

Finally, for more ALIVE Festival memories, check out:

Enjoy!

p.s. Don't forget that we are putting the final touches on Kris' birthday plans! Make sure you sign the group card tonight by 11 pm Eastern! And if you are going to his 6/21 show in Michigan, PLEASE let me know by tweeting @KrisAllenLists to put you on the live tweet list!

Throwback Thursday: June 12, 2010: Kris Allen Band performs in Cherokee, NC

Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris Allen's career via video.

So four years ago, Kris and his band spent the month of June 2010 on his first headlining tour. The tour took them across the country and provided some of our fondest memories of the Kris Allen Band live. While touring can take place anytime of the year, there is just something special about a summer tour. So I have to admit, I am disappointed it isn't happening this year.

Why no summer tour? Probably because the album release is looking more likely for August? Not to mention, Big Daddy has gotten himself a summer job with another band playing the Warped tour (which wraps up August 3). And there are those weekly emails with new show announcements from my local music venues. They are all up to announcing Fall shows now and are pretty much the most depressing emails I get. Plus a look at the calendar at the bottom of this page will show you one gig in June, nothing in July, but a number of college gigs in late August and early September. Plus of course Lentil Fest. (Tip for the calendar, click the Agenda setting.)

So don't despair even though I've penned this depressing post. I truly believe there will be a tour. Soon. Hopefully not the Kris Allen version of soon. And we do have a show coming up in June on Kris' birthday, June 21. You can read more about it here, and also learn about all the different birthday plans for Kris being put together by fans. If you are in Ohio or Michigan, you should go to his show if you can!

But oh yeah - this was a Throwback Thursday post. Well, it feels like a lifetime waiting for REAL news about this upcoming album and tour from Kris, so let's go with Lifetime from Cherokee, NC, June 12, 2010:

Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday: June 4, 2010: Kris Allen Band performs Maybe in Milwaukee, WI

Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris Allen's career via video.

This week, I only have a limited time to bang out this post, but I didn't want to skip it during this lull in activity while we await the new album and hopefully some tour dates to be announced soon.

So I was very grateful that a few videos for Maybe came up in my search for what Kris did in the past in early June. His cover of Allison Krauss' song is absolutely gorgeous and definitely one of my favorite covers done by Kris. I also had forgotten that the KAB had that little thing they did with a seated acoustic mini-set in the middle of their full band shows. I always liked that!

So here is transplant42's video of Maybe from the June 4, 2010 show at Turner Hall in Milwaukee, WI.

Enjoy and maybe we will (hopefully!) hear some concrete album and tour news from Kris soon!
