Summer Plans for KAL!

Hoping Kris is enjoying his "paternity leave" and family time! While he's doing that, I thought I'd post a short update on my summertime-and-beyond plans for this blog and its related social media accounts.

For Twitter and Instagram, while I'm not going to be spamming your timelines quite like I do during tour times, I do intend to do so on #ThrowbackThursday and #FlashbackFriday, using retweets and reposts of things I spot on there. (Links to my Twitter and Instagram accounts, and Kris' accounts too, are on the right hand side of the blog.)

My YouTube account has been the neglected stepchild and needs some real organization. So I'll be working on that when time permits. I also want to get videos linked on to the master song list.

As for the blog itself, summertime is always a great time to catch up on media you may have missed. To help Kris fans do just that, I'm planning to write some occasional posts to highlight different shows from the Letting You In Tour, with a focus on some performances or videos that are great and might have been overlooked.

So those are my plans for the site this summer! Let me know via Twitter or in the comments if you have any post or video suggestions, or any other thoughts or ideas! I hope you all have a great summer and stay tuned!

Charity Event: June 18, 2016: Union Rescue Mission Presents: Night on the Streets 2016, Little Rock, Arkansas

Union Rescue Mission Presents: Night on the Streets 2016 "Multicultural"
June 18, 2016
War Memorial Stadium
Little Rock, AR

Doors 4 PM CDT
Show 6:30 PM CDT
Other Acts: Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Mary Mary, Tamela Mann and Amber Bullock

All ages

Show and List Preview:
This charity telethon event benefits the Union Rescue Mission of Little Rock, a faith-based charity in Little Rock, Arkansas that seeks to help the homeless, addicted and disadvantaged rebuild their lives. Although it says it's a telethon, I'm not finding any livestream or TV information; it sounds more like a charity concert. According to this news story, "Every act will perform live with their band and after 45 minutes of the performance the show will stop and the audience will have the opportunity to participate in the telethon event by getting on their phones and raise funds for the URM."

Updated: Some pre-event stories after the break. Could not find any information or media regarding Kris' part in this show but it turns out there was a very good reason for this:

Private Event: June 14, 2016: Meeting Planners International World Education Congress, Atlantic City

Private Event
Meeting Planners International's World Education Congress
June 14, 2016
Harrahs Atlantic City, New Jersey

Around 6 pm eastern today, we saw tweets pop up advertising a Kris performance to meeting planners attending an educational conference in Atlantic City. Turns out he (with the full band) and Redfoo from LMFAO are the closing night's entertainment for this large conference. (Train and Rick Springfield have already entertained the meeting planners.)

Since it's a private gig, we probably won't get set list info, but if I do, I'll add it to this post. In the meantime, here are some photos posted on social media by attendees. (Updated 6/15/2016)

The Letting You In Tour finishes up in Charlotte, NC. We always have good lists and live tweeters in North Carolina, and I'm sure they will keep us updated! Kris last played this venue in 2014.

Updated: It's so sad to think this tour is over. It brought many of us a lot of happiness. Thank you Kris Allen and KAB and Max Shafer for a great time, and next time, please don't wait three years to hit us up again in DC or in other major cities! Charlotte set list and media (including videos) after the break...

    Show and List Preview:
I will be traveling to attend my college reunion at UVA today, but Kris and the band are apparently playing Tarheel nation, with a gig in Carrboro, NC (just west of Chapel Hill, NC (UNC's home) in the Raleigh-Durham metropolitan area). Kris last played this area in 2013 for the Out Alive tour.

My weekend travels and reunion mean that I will not update this post until after the weekend. I'll leave the list open longer than usual to compensate for that.

Updated: You can always depend on our North Carolina fans for great media! Several full sets of beautiful videos from the show plus some more! Looks like a great show - if you are an ACC fan, be sure to watch Kris the SEC guy try to identify figure out just which part of Tobacco Road he is on in the banter before Time Will Come...

    Show and List Preview:
Kris plays the capitol of Virginia for the first time. (He did play Charlottesville, an hour away, back in 2014.) Having a kid who attends college in the Richmond area, I am well acquainted with the horrific road that is I-95 in Virginia, and I hope for Kris and the band that their trek south from DC to Richmond goes better than most of mine do. (I'll probably pass along a map of alternative routes to them, lol.) As a lifelong native, I can say Virginia is a fantastic state once you get off the interstates and it's a great state for music (you can read the Charlottesville post for more of my thoughts on Virginia). I hope Kris and the band get a great crowd! (We will have some regulars on this list.)

Updated: Looks like it was a good show! Kris, if you are reading this, you are welcome back in Virginia and the DC area any time. Don't be a stranger! Set list and media (including some videos) after the break...

    Show 7:30 PM EDT
Opening Acts: Sean McConnell and Tyler Woolf

    Show and List Preview:
Well it's about time Kris plays my hometown, considering he has not done a proper headlining gig in DC since 2012 (at this same venue). (To be fair to Kris, he played a fantastic show in the northern VA suburbs of DC in January 2013 and a Boyce Avenue gig in October 2014 in the MD suburbs.) The Hamilton is an awesome venue with great acoustics, and I am looking forward to actually going to a headlining Kris Allen show for the first time since that January 2013 VA show. Really, this whole show should have a great vibe, especially given how long this area of the country has gone without a show. On top of it, local top 40 radio station Mix 107.3 is doing a "pre-party" for this concert which is promotion I would not have expected from them, but definitely welcome! And not to be outdone, local Kris-friendly radio station (they've spun Waves) 94.7 FreshFM is co-sponsoring a breakfast with Kris on its acoustic stage. People going to that event are on the list as well.

Updated: This was such a great show and the people of DC were thrilled to have Kris back in concert after a long time with no show. Post has been updated with a ton of media (including videos, mp3s and photos) and my thoughts (since I actually went) after the break...

    UPDATED AFTER THE PERFORMANCE:

Just a heads up that Kris Allen will perform God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch of the the Cincinnati Reds v. Washington Nationals game this Sunday, June 5. The game is in Cincinnati and starts at 1:10 PM eastern. [Ticket link here if you want to go in person and live tweet and video for us!]

    TV/Radio Viewing Information:
I'm told that the MASN network is available in a number of places and that there's a fairly good chance FSOhio will air the 7th inning stretch.

Kris, of course, is a huge baseball fan and a great choice for your professional league sports game entertainment, having done the anthem over the years for numerous NFL, NHL, MLB and NBA events. Now if he would only get into my favorite sport, tennis. He'd be great for Arthur Ashe Kids' Day at the US Open!

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to grab a few videos from his previous appearances at MLB games.

Enjoy, baseball fans! I'm not doing a twitter list for this, but will update this post with photos and videos from the appearance.

    Show and List Preview:
Kris played an awesome headlining show in Milwaukee back in 2010. More recently, he opened for Boyce Avenue here in 2014 and played a charity gig here in 2015. As you can see, the media we've gotten from past shows here has been fairly spotty; so we'll hope this year's crowd comes through. I am hopeful - this show seems to be absorbing the people who couldn't get into the sold out Chicago show.

Updated: Great to see (via Periscope) a lively crowd into the music and aware of what Kris is doing musically! They got Venice plus bonus Heartless! Set list and media after the break...
