Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris Allen's career via video.
This week, I only have a limited time to bang out this post, but I didn't want to skip it during this lull in activity while we await the new album and hopefully some tour dates to be announced soon.
So I was very grateful that a few videos for Maybe came up in my search for what Kris did in the past in early June. His cover of Allison Krauss' song is absolutely gorgeous and definitely one of my favorite covers done by Kris. I also had forgotten that the KAB had that little thing they did with a seated acoustic mini-set in the middle of their full band shows. I always liked that!
So here is transplant42's video of Maybe from the June 4, 2010 show at Turner Hall in Milwaukee, WI.
Enjoy and maybe we will (hopefully!) hear some concrete album and tour news from Kris soon!

Throwback Thursday: May 29, 2010: Saline Summer Daze, Benton, AR
Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris Allen's career via video.
Today, I was feeling a little down about doing this post. There were plenty of things to throwback to - apparently May 29 is usually a busy day for Kris - but nothing really jumped out at me, because I am not feeling nostalgic; I'm feeling anxious. That's when it hit me that I really hate the down time when the album is in the final preparation stage, there's nothing (yet) to promote, and the tour dates are not finalized and not able to be revealed. And on top of it, most of the few live dates we do know about are college shows, which have their role and are great, but aren't something the majority of Kris fans can attend. Every day while doing searches for the list, I see the tweets of Kris fans hungry for news, real concert dates, anything they can listen to, look at and enjoy! (Except snake photographs.) Like you, I am ready to bring back a busy schedule of Kris music, concerts and live tweet lists!
So when I saw that the live debut of the song Bring It Back from KATA happened on this day back in 2010, well, the choice for today's post became obvious.
Bring it back, indeed, Kris. We're more than ready.

Throwback Thursday: May 22, 2012: Happy Anniversary Thank You Camellia
Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris Allen's career via video. This Thursday is a special day because it happens to be the anniversary of the 2012 release of his most recent album, Thank You Camellia.
It's a little bittersweet for me. This album is fantastic and deserved so much more notice and attention than it ended up receiving, mainly due to a lackluster promotional campaign by Kris' record label and management at the time. (Since then, he's gone indie and changed management.) If you are reading this and are a Kris Allen fan but have never gotten Thank You Camellia, I highly recommend that you change that immediately and get the deluxe version ([Amazon]| [iTunes]) as the bonus tracks are some of my favorites.
Combing through YouTube to see what transpired around the release of Thank You Camellia - Kris did a mix of radio/TV interviews and a few listening parties. I thought for our Throwback Thursday video, I'd use this interview with WPRI in Providence, Rhode Island, as it was a good one and has a nice acoustic version of The Vision of Love (the only single off the album):

So sometime today, as we await the release of Kris' next album sometime this year, why not give Thank You Camellia a listen while sipping a delicious Camellia?
Heck, and maybe even do a rewatch of the official video for the Vision of Love? Happy TYCAnniversary!

May 9, 2014: Arkansas Disaster Relief Concert, Fellowship Bible Church, Conway, AR
Disaster Relief Concert
May 9
Fellowship Bible Church
Conway, AR
Doors open at 6:30 PM CDT;
Event starts 7 PM CDT
Show and List Preview:
On April 27, 2014, several towns in Arkansas were simply devastated by tornadoes, including a strong EF4 tornado that ravaged Vilonia, the town where Kris' wife Katy teaches school. To aid in the rebuilding, Kris and Preston Palmer Studios have arranged a relief concert tonight to help raise needed funds. According to the event page, money raised will go to Samaritan's Purse's efforts in Mayflower/Vilonia and The Ministry Center, who is also working with tornado victims.
Obviously, this is a serious and worthwhile cause, so my focus will not be on the fun stuff like it normally is. That doesn't mean we won't grab media and set list, of course. But the focus is relief. So to that end-Kris' official street team sent out an email to its members with this information (copied/pasted from the email):

Preview:
Starting tonight, Kris is scheduled to attend several Kentucky Derby related events. First up is a celebrity poker party sponsored by Southern Gaming Magazine tonight. (Update: Although he was listed in promotional articles as attending, it appears he did not. Of course, as we know, he's been very busy with Arkansas tornado relief, so that's my guess for where he was.) Friday night, he's one of the entertainers at an official Kentucky Derby charity ball, Unbridled Eve. Both events benefit a charity named Blessings in a Backpack. And Saturday, we can expect him to pop up as a spectator at the Run for the Roses.
Special thank you goes to one of my favorite Kris fans, @KYnurse45_ for helping me pull together the list! She also shared this #throwbackthursday video find from the last time Kris played a Kentucky Derby event (in 2011):
