Kris finally, FINALLY, plays another show in New York City - always one of his best towns. However, he hasn't played the Big Apple since October 2014 (an opening act show for Boyce Avenue) and he hasn't done a headlining show there since a surprise show in February 2014! The fans there have begged for his return and this should be a great show.

Updated: Seems like it was quite a successful show! Big crowd, enthusiastic and they've given us tons of media and the set list after the break...

This will be Kris' first show ever in Rochester, New York. Curious to see how this goes! Local radio stations have been promoting the show, and the show has sold out, so that's good. I do have some folks for the list.

Letting You In Tour: Requests Granted (Updated)

Thanks to @kristen8108 for an excellent suggestion! She was prepping for her #LettingYouInTour stop and asked for a list of requests that Kris has played so far, so that she wouldn't duplicate!

So here's the list! Very interesting and there was a definite pattern of requests granted. Being a super fan, I admit that I grumbled a bit about some of them (especially the KATA ones) and would have wanted more deep cuts, demos and unreleased material. However, it dawned on me that granting those requests was a great way to Kris to reach out to casual fans and draw them in a bit more.

And I was fortunate and am super grateful to have my VIP request granted (it was Letting You In). It was the highlight actually of my show, so I may go back as time permits and edit this post to add in the VIP requests too. It's tricky because not every VIP song was a request, but I'll try to note the ones that were. If he granted your request at VIP, please let me know what it was.

Bonus! Some were requests and some weren't, but for every VIP song that had a good quality video, @frazzledsoul made mp3s! Click here to access.

  • Birmingham (3/31) - Girl Across the Room (from Horizons)

After all the Idol finale festivities, Kris returns to the spring tour with a stop at this famous nightclub owned by Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates. If you have watched the most recent episodes of Daryl Hall's VH1/MTV Live show Live from Daryl's House, you have seen this club! I've long had a dream that Kris would get to be on that show (which is awesome by the way); hopefully, he'll get a chance to make a connection with this show that will make that happen.

Aside from all that, it's guitarist Cale's birthday! Happy birthday to Cale!

Updated: Fantastic show! The highlight was how kind Kris and the band were to two fans from abroad who had traveled for the east coast shows. He played one's request and had them both on stage for the end. Videos, set list and other media after the break...

April 5-7, 2016: American Idol Finale

Thanks @ShouldI45 for the picture of your ticket!
Photo via JustJared

It is the end of an era, as American Idol draws to a close with special episodes April 5, 6 and 7. Of course, it will bring back almost all of its winners and several memorable alumni to help with the celebration, including the 2009 winner of season 8, Kris.

Updated my personal take post-finale: Personally, for many years (probably seasons 1 through 11), American Idol was my favorite TV show and I didn't miss an episode. I actually have purchased a lot of post-Idol music from various contestants - Kris of course, but many others as well. However, Season 12 of Idol (the Nicki Minaj/Mariah Carey/cut all the talented guys season) was so rough and painful that I began to lose interest. I watched Season 13 very casually but Season 14 drew me back into it since I liked the guy who won it (Nick Fradiani). I also am a big Keith Urban fan, so it helps sometimes that Keith is on there as a judge. I had high hopes that Idol would indulge in some alumni and nostalgia this season, and they have to a degree (including Kris, who helped judge the Little Rock auditions). The finale itself was overall fantastic, and although I might have had the WGWGs sing their own songs and cut Kara Dioguardi so they could have an extra two minutes, I really can't complain.

This post will serve to collect some of the Kris-centric media and stories regarding the finale. (Note, as a blog that seeks to support Kris, I will not post any stories that I deem unflattering or unhelpful in any way. If you are looking for comprehensive Idol finale coverage, I recommend MJs Big Blog. Team Kris is also gathering Kris-related media here.)

Media, Kris-related finale news and all the best finale clips and pics after the break!

April 3, 2016

Yountville, CA

Noon - 2 PM Pacific

Show and List Preview:
As many of us in the major east coast cities know, Kris was slated to go through our area with the tour this week. However, the mothership, American Idol, called him home for its final shows (Tuesday April 5 through Thursday April 7), and of course, he had to go! The Charlotte, Washington, Philadelphia and New York City shows were all rescheduled (New York for April 18 and the other three are in June). So what's a guy to do before returning to his mothership? Hit up Napa of course, and this awesome-sounding multi-day wine, food and music festival, featuring performers Kris is friends with such as Jason Castro, Jillette Johnson and the Goo Goo Dolls. Kris will be playing a champagne brunch on Sunday afternoon, and you can get an a la carte ticket to just his portion of the festival (link above).

Updated: While I spent the day on country roads and I-95 taking a kid back to college and battling our way back home with her winter clothes, you guys enjoyed champagne brunch with Kris via Periscope. Thank you as always to awesome Kris fans who share with the fandom! Media after the break...
