For my favorite performance from this Fall, I have to go with one from the show I actually saw in person! (Washington, DC, The Hamilton, 10/28/12) It's hard to pick just one song though, as it was a great night from start to finish. I found this video by HannaB20 showing the last two songs of the night, including the crowd getting up on stage and dancing! Kind of shows what a Kris show is all about so think it's a great pick to represent 2012.
Looking forward to all the lists for the #OutAliveTour coming in 2013! Get your tickets now and let me know on Twitter @KrisAllenLists what show you are going to!
Every Thursday we take a look back at some awesome Kris Allen video!
Today I need to make it up to you because I missed last week. Also, it's a special day: tonight at 8 pm is Kris' online StageIt Christmas show! Get your ticket if you haven't yet!
So of course this calls for a Christmas video! I've picked this one from a radio show he did in 2009 for 94.5 WPST in Trenton, NJ, featuring his versions of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and The Christmas Song:
Make A Difference Evening,
a reception by the Jones Group to benefit Ronald McDonald House of New York City
December 11, 2012
Tonight Kris is one of the performers at a special charity benefit to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House of New York City. The benefit was originally scheduled for the week that Hurricane Sandy hit New York, and thus of course had to be rescheduled.
Others scheduled to appear include American Idol season 9 winner Lee DeWyze and season 6 standout Melinda Doolittle.
Every Thursday we take a look back at awesome Kris videos of yore! And this month, with the imminent arrival of Waiting for Christmas, we will be getting into throwback Thursday holiday mode!
Today we travel back two years to when Kris was one of the artists participating in Mix 105.1 (Orlando)'s annual holiday concert.
We're back after a Thanksgiving break. (Usually) Every Thursday, we take a look back at a great video of Kris!
This week, as you may have already heard, Kris is in Kenya with World Vision USA on a charity mission. Make sure to check out their blog, Pinterest board and/or Facebook page for more information and some great videos!
To celebrate his latest good deeds, thought it would be appropriate this week to look at a fan video made for his birthday two years ago. A group of fans raised money to buy Kris a cow from Heifer International. (The cow is actually donated to a family in Africa.) Enough money was raised to buy over 50 cows and Kris was blown away by it.
Concert with Katie Herzig 3rd and Lindsley Nashville, TN November 18, 2012 7:30 PM Central 8 PM Central for possible stream
Kris plays his last scheduled show (unless something new pops up) for 2012 tonight. He's co-headlining with Katie Herzig at 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville. A lot of people live in Nashville, so it'd be fun to see some special guests in the audience - maybe Mat Kearney for example? Or maybe a special guest guitarist spot for full KAB guitarist/Nashville resident Andrew DeRoberts?
The good news is even if you are not at the show, it appears that it is possible that some of the audio of it will be broadcast via Lightning 100, an independent radio station based in Nashville, as part of their "Nashville Sunday Night" show. That show starts a half hour after the actual show starts. Here is the link to listen live to Nashville Sunday Night!
Concert at Tanger Outlets Glendale, Arizona November 16, 2012 7 - 8 pm (Arizona time, same as Mountain time) Kris opens another new Tanger Outlet, this time in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale. As we know, these bring out big crowds, great tweeters and good videos, so look forward to the same tonight!
Every Thursday we look back to the good stuff and times, and there have been plenty!
Tomorrow, November 16, is Kris Allen Band guitarist Andrew DeRoberts' birthday! Since Kris has scaled back from doing full band shows this fall, fans have really missed seeing Andrew and his guitar jams! But fear not, he helped Kris with the upcoming Christmas EP, and Kris will be playing a show in Andrew's home of Nashville this Sunday! Might we have a special appearance? We'll see...
But for now, Happy Birthday to Andrew! Let's re-live one of his best nights for this week's throwback video. This was the night of #cockatoo hair and KAB bar jamming. This was September 5, 2010, and KAB took over the stage of a local college bar in State College, PA to perform a few songs (also on this YouTube channel). Here's Andrew handing the lead on I'm Tore Down:
Concert at Southwest Minnesota State University Marshall, MN Opening for Eric Hutchinson Doors at 7 pm, Show at 8 pm CENTRAL
Kris opens tonight for Eric Hutchinson at a college concert held at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, MN. This isn't the first time they've played together, as they did a radio show for WRMF in West Palm Beach earlier this year. For those of you who aren't familiar with Eric, he's worth checking out. He had a minor hit earlier this year with Watching You Watch Him, and opened for Kelly Clarkson on her tour a few years ago. Here's the event info in case you make a last-minute decision to head out to SMSU and see the show tonight!
For those who don't know the other performers, Ariana Grande is a huge star for kids and teens. (With over 3 million twitter followers, let's hope she drinks the milkshake!) She's the comic relief on Victorious and is getting her own show on Nickelodeon soon. Roshon was in Camp Rock and Colton Dixon was on the last season of American Idol. For the list, I've been searching all of their replies, hope to see some new fans be won over today! And we've got some faithful list regulars going.
Updated 2018: Kris' former drummer Brad tweeted something about Ariana Grande, and it reminded me that Kris once co-headlined this mall Christmas concert! Fans had fun reminiscing on Twitter and I saw that this post needed an update. Luckily, Kris fan @SnapCracklyPop had a great YouTube playlist (thank you for the link @ISBinLA) - so enjoy this Krismas concert from 2012!
Every Thursday we take a look back and relive the highlights of being a Kris Allen fan!
Three years ago, Kris played Live in the Vineyard for the first time. It marked the only time he has ever performed Let It Rain from the KATA album live.
That's a shame, because he did a beautiful job! Enjoy!
And how do we know he will never do this again? Well, he has told fans a few times when talking with them that it's not one of his favorites. And then he had this reaction at 1:10 of the video below when I requested it in DC last week:
Hopefully one day we can all change his mind. In the meantime, enjoy this week's throwback to Let It Rain, Live in the Vineyard 2009, and bonus throwback of Blindfolded from October 28, 2012!
And finally, because I forgot to do Throwback Thursday last week, here is my apology offering - a link to a place to download Let It Rain from LITV:
Cabo Wabo Cantina
Cabo San Lucas, MX
7:15 - 9:00 pm
(Cabo is in the same time zone as the mountain time zone in USA, but has no daylight savings time, so 10:15 eastern).
Kris plays Sammy Hagar's bar in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico today. There's been a little confusion over this event. While it appears to be open to the public, it's also been rumored to be a private event for Tyson Chicken. We'll see! In any case, Big Daddy is certainly enjoying his time down there and has a lovely view (as shown by the photo above).
Well, this one should be a very interesting list! One, many are traveling to DC for this show and DC already is a Kris stronghold. Your very own KAL is DC-based! (I'll be at the show!) Two, the area is under a hurricane watch, although fortunately, as of tonight, the worst will be occurring on Monday. You'll notice I put the local subway and weather guy on it. And three, Kris gave the New York crowd a bunch of surprises last night (including the debut of Wipe it Away from Brand New Shoes)! So who knows what we are in store for!?
The list tonight will be facilitated by @Altrus01 and thank you very much to her for the help!
Kris performs twice at Joe's Pub tonight to sold out crowds for both shows! Luckily for us, the first show will be livestreamed! Go here to access it. Note: To watch, you will need to create an account with livestream.com; you can log into it with Facebook or an email. I'd suggest doing this before the show starts.
We'll just have one list tonight, since a few people who are great tweeters are going to both shows! Plus people will tweet media before and after both shows. So one list it is!
Tonight, Kris begins a four-day, five-show swing through the East Coast. Fans are very excited! This show will be the smallest of the five, but we have some excellent tweeters and video-takers on this list! Quality, not quantity, sometimes is best!
Every Thursday, we take a look back at Kris in videos, and this week it's a special one! It's the third anniversary of the Kris Allen Band's first performance as a group!
Their first gig as a band? The Miami Dolphins Tailgate performance on October 25, 2009 - a five song peek into all the musical enjoyment we would come to expect from them!
After Dark
Texas A&M
College Station, TX
8 PM Central
Tonight Kris repeats his After Dark show at Texas A&M in College Station, TX. The college students loved him in Oklahoma State at this event; expect the same here! If tweeting, use hashtag #AfterDarkTAMU.
Concert
One World Theatre
Austin, TX
October 22, 2012
Kris continues his Fall 2012 tour in Austin, TX tonight. Last night, we were treated to a new cover of the River by Garth Brooks, as well as the return of Before We Come Undone and Loves Me Not. What surprises do we have in store tonight?
Today's list is one of our little ones to see if we can get any info about a private event that Kris will perform at (along with Haley Reinhart). The occasion is the opening of Villa St. Juliette, a winery co-owned by Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick. It is private and invitation-only, so we may not get many tweets, but Nigel, Kris and Haley are on the list, along with a winery and a winery association that tweeted about the opening. We'll see how it goes!
The more interesting story may be how Nigel intends to get Kris from Houston to Paso Robles, CA and back to Dallas within two days.
Tonight, Kris plays a free show to help open the new Tanger Outlets shopping center in Texas City, TX (near Houston and Galveston). His past two Tanger shows attracted large crowds and had great lists; expect the same tonight!
Every Thursday we go back in time Kris-wise and remember past shows and interviews!
Today we go back two years to one of the first shows in the Fall 2010 tour with Lifehouse and Alyssa Bernal (Remember "Cali, Cali, Cali"?) As the middle act, Kris did an eight song set that included some KATA classics and some covers, including the set-closing "Come Together."
So here's her video of Come Together from the October 17, 2010 show at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. It's a little sound-muddled (all of the videos from that show are, must have been the sound system), but she was in the front row for one of Kris' first forays into the crowd during Come Together. Also epic Krale around 2:22.
Tonight Kris joins an epic lineup of musicians (with perhaps, just maybe, a very special rumored guest to boot) in an annual fundraiser to benefit Little Kids Rock, a music education charity Kris supports. You may recall he did this event two years ago:
This year, for the 10th anniversary, the benefit is bigger and honors E Street Band guitarist, actor, and Underground Garage host Steven Van Zandt. The amazing lineup of special guests includes the great Elvis Costello, Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, Members of the E Street Band Max Weinberg and Jake Clemons, Southside Johnny, Darlene Love, Dion, Gary US Bonds, Ruben Blades, Michael Des Barres, Michael Johns from Season 7 of Idol and Kris! If you think KAL (a huge Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band fan since childhood for those who did not know) is going to be fangirling, you think correctly!
The Event! Every Thursday, we take a fun look back at a Kris video of yore!
This week we are going back to his October 15, 2009, visit to Seton Hall HS in the Cincinnati area. This produced an epic, epic, did I say epic, video of Kris covering Britney Spears' Hit Me One More Time, with help from the girls of Seton Hall. Sadly, when I went to fetch that video for this post, I discovered the person who put it up on You Tube closed their account and took it down. :(
But, luckily, radio station Q102 of Cincinnati posted this awesome video for all of us - includes the Britney song, Live Like We're Dying, Kris playing viola, Kris singing Happy Birthday and much screaming. Enjoy!
Every Thursday we take a look back at a Kris video!
On October 7, 2010, the CW hit The Vampire Diaries aired an episode which included this moody scene and hopefully someone who watches TVD will explain in the comments what was happening! It's very intense, so of course the intense Kris tune I Need to Know fit perfectly as background music!
Faith/We Are Young/Some Nights (Cover - Faith/George Michael and We Are Young/Some Nights/fun. mash-up) [Video] [Video] [Video] [Video - partial] [mp3]
Live Like We're Dying (accompanied by saxophonist) [Video] [Video]
Ain't No Sunshine (with Jose Feliciano)(Cover - Bill Withers) [Video] [Video]
Other Artists: Jose Feliciano, Jon Secada, Billy Gibbons, Billy Ray Cyrus, Erika Jayne, Ahmir, Danielle Peck, Willie Panama, Jorge Villamizar, Angel & Khriz, Ana Isabelle, Sammy Arriaga
Starting with the next list (tomorrow!), we're going to (hopefully) embed our twitter lists here! My hope is that this will be a fun way for Kris fans to gather and comment while a show is ongoing. Also, sometimes I am just busy with real life, and so this gives me a way to put the list out there when I can't tweet the link from my Twitter account.
A few notes:
Lists will only be active for about 24 hours before a show and for a few days afterwards (to be able to see pictures, videos, etc.)
Have fun but please be respectful of everyone on the list!
If you are on a list and don't want to be, just send a tweet to @KrisAllenLists & we'll take you off.
On the other hand, I can't search 24/7, so if I missed adding someone, feel free to tweet that to me too! It's easiest to add them if you just tell me their twitter name, but a status link is ok too.
Everyone who helps with the lists is greatly, greatly appreciated!
For this week's edition of #ThrowbackThursday, we take you back to the USO Tour of 2010! Also known as "the overseas trip Kris forgot to bring his hair gel on." This video is from his appearance at the AFNorth International School in Schinnen, The Netherlands.
Some sound issues with this one, but nice overview of his set. Make sure you click around 6:36 and watch them all rock out to LLWD. Enjoy!
Every Thursday, we take a look back at an awesome old Kris video! Today, one of my personal favorites: Kris performing Man in the Mirror on a Boston rooftop for radio station Mix 104.1 on September 19, 2009. It's just chill and beautiful.
Every Thursday, we take a look back at an awesome old Kris video!
This one of Kris covering Bright Lights by Matchbox 20 is from the Idol tour, September 13, 2009, in Providence, RI. Ah, when Kris was sick. He makes it look actually kind of hot to be sick.
Find a playlist of other Throwback Thursday videos here.
Welcome to the new Kris Allen Lists blog! If all goes according to plan, this will be a handy place to host the Twitter lists for Kris' events and watch them together. Not sure what Kris Allen Lists is? We're on Twitter @KrisAllenLists. Basically we do Twitter lists for all of Kris Allen's events. It's a fun way for fans to follow what he is doing, and to bring the fandom together. And since he just announced a bunch of tour dates, this is a perfect time to get this blog set up! (Kris' next show as of this posting is September 23, so that will be our first gathering for a list here!) You'll also notice some handy links to my favorite Kris fan sites on the right, and the Kralendar is embedded below for your use! (Pro tips: Click on the "Google Calendar" link on the bottom to add the Kralendar to your calendars. And click on Agenda to get a nice list of upcoming shows!) Let me know if you have any suggestions or feedback for the blog! Thanks! --KAL
