2013: The Year in Kris Allen Performances (Part Two of Two)

Every year, I try to keep a YouTube playlist of Kris Allen's live performances and get it out to my followers as a thank you for following me. I look for a good video of each performance and try to make sure that people who don't normally post video are included as well. This year, with the Out Alive tour, we ended up with a five part playlist (YouTube allows 200 videos per list, and I left some room on each one for missing songs.). In my last installment, we had three playlists taking us up through the end of April. Let's continue our journey through the year...

Part Four of the playlist picks up with the spring leg of the Out Alive Tour, which saw Kris return to the east coast. It begins April 26, in Rockland, ME, finishes the leg, and then ends with some one-off gigs in May, June and July. As I was compiling this and reviewing videos, I realized that I would love to see Kris in an outdoor venue. (Actually, I have, in August 2010, but I would love to see him that way again.) This part includes the premiere of his awesome original song All We Need Is This Love (hoping that makes his album!) as well as some great covers of She Thinks I Still Care (George Jones) and Mirrors (Justin Timberlake). Memorable shows included Burlington, New York City, Hanover (MD) and Bay City (MI). Also don't miss the videos of him at a charity gig in New York for Give an Hour and with Idol contestant Shubha Vedula in Mount Pleasant, MI singing Live Like We're Dying.

And whew, Part Five! Part five takes us through the second half of the year, from his one-off in August at Hershey Park through his recent Christmas online concert. As you probably know, Kris' son Oliver was born in late July, and naturally his time on the road was limited. Still he gave us quite a few live highlights, including a reborn version of Rooftops with a new intro and a mashup with Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines. The best shows in this bunch included Hershey #2, the Live on the Levee show which turned into a mall show thanks to a scary West Virginia severe thunderstorm, and an AMAZING college crowd at Brigham Young Idaho in Rexburg. Kris ended the year with an awesome holiday show including a new, untitled, holiday song which I love.

Also, I promised you some stats. I did lists and/or posts for 82 different events. You can find the complete spreadsheet of  all songs Kris sang in 2013 here. The only song not performed (:() from Thank You Camellia was Turn the Pages. Only four songs were performed from KATA: Live Like We're Dying, Alright With Me, Red Guitar and Before We Come Undone. Kris also did a few from Brand New Shoes in a most welcome development; I hope he'll continue to perform them live! By my count, he did 65 separate covers (some a number of times) including the Christmas songs. (Please correct me if needed on any of these stats.)

In summary, 2013 was a busy year for Kris and his fans, which we will end with one more show and one more list on New Year's Eve! I'll also give you a final stats post with the stats from that added in. Thank you for all your wonderful feedback this past year and for all your great live tweets and media! Let's do it again tomorrow!

2013: The Year in Kris Allen Live Performances (Part One of Two)

Every year, I try to keep a YouTube playlist of Kris' live performances and get it out to my followers as a thank you for following me. I look for a good video of each performance and try to make sure that people who don't normally post video are included as well. This year, with the Out Alive tour, we ended up with a five part playlist (YouTube allows 200 videos per list, and I left some room on each one for missing songs.).

So for those of you who really need to catch up on Kris, you are all set! Before I list the playlists, a few acknowledgments. First and foremost, thank you to every single person who has live tweeted a Kris show, posted pictures and/or posted video. You may not even realize this, but many Kris fans truly appreciated it!

Special shout-outs to @ameeliu15 and @headonfire1105. You'll see their videos a lot. Thank goodness they went to Kris shows and were nice enough to video every song! Also special shout out to @maryet34 who makes invaluable playlists for almost every Kris show. These were super helpful for compiling my lists!

So here's Part One! This part covers the January 2013 shows in the first month of the Out Alive tour (from Killington, VT through Tulsa, OK). I'm sure those who went to a show during this time frame will remember how amazing it was that Kris even was able to perform given his terrible accident at the beginning of the year. I went to the Vienna, VA show in January and remember just feeling grateful that Kris was OK. Highlights here include his performance of Where Are You Amy (dedicated to the citizens of Newtown) in Ridgefield, CT, and awesome covers of Where Doves Cry (Prince), Breakdown (Tom Petty) and Cry Me a River (Justin Timberlake). Since the East Coast loves them some Kris, you will find the Boston, Philadelphia and Vienna videos to be especially popping.

And here's Part Two! This part covers shows from Albuquerque, NM (January 31), all his west coast Out Alive shows, and goes through Aspen, CO (February 20). Yes, there are that many shows and videos! Kris was an enormous trooper considering he was recovering from a serious injury, and he deserves a ton of credit for not letting his fans down and continuing with the tour.Highlights during this playlist include some great requests (Wicked Game (Chris Isaak), Jealous Guy (John Lennon) and High and Dry (Radiohead) are my favorites). Standout shows in this part included San Diego, Agoura Hills, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle.

The playlist for Part Three runs from February 21 (Denver) through the Sophia's Heart cruise and on through the first few shows of the spring leg of the Out Alive Tour (through Plymouth, NH, April 25). Highlights here include first performances of Kris' original songs Fighters, Love Too Much and Unique, as well as some great covers of Tighten Up (The Black Keys) and In Your Eyes (Peter Gabriel). Shows that stood out for me included the cruise, Chicago, Ann Arbor and Toronto.

Click here for my second installment, with the rest of the year's playlists and a look back at Kris' stats! In the meantime, please let me know your Kris highlights in the comments, and if you spot any videos I've missed, or corrections to be made, please hit me up and let me know!

Throwback Thursday: April 17, 2013: Kris covers "Something" by the Beatles in Minneapolis, MN

Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris' career via video.

This week, I'm feverishly working on my annual project of culling all of Kris' performances that I can find for the year into a YouTube playlist. This year, given that he went on an extensive tour, I am only up through April and I already have four playlists! It's a lot of fun to work on them and look at some of the performances I may not have noticed while bringing you the lists. Especially by spring, there were so many videos of Kris performing that sadly, some of the April shows got a bit overlooked by the fandom at large. One of these was the April 17 show in Minneapolis.

As you know, Kris did a request song each night of the Out Alive tour. In this show, he chose to cover Something by his favorite band, the Beatles. The performance is lovely and there's some pretty funny pre-song banter, as well as Kris apparently imitating a kazoo. Here's a nice video from SheriH for you to enjoy!

As a bonus, I made a quick and dirty mp3 from it - untrimmed - which you are welcome to have. Click here to download.

Look for me to post and tweet out the 2013 Kris Live video playlists over this upcoming week!

Throwback Thursday: December 16, 2009: Kris Allen Band sings Live Like We're Dying in Christmas Sweaters on Letterman

Every Thursday, we take a look back at Kris' career via video. As it is the Christmas season, let us go back to a wonderful time in 2009 when KATA was eponymous and the band made their first (and hopefully not their only) appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman to sing Kris' hit at the time, Live Like We're Dying.

Here's a cute post from Entertainment Weekly about the appearance. Kris and the band had planned to dress then drummer Ryland Steen as Santa, but were thwarted by Letterman producers. Ugly Christmas sweaters and an adorable performance ensued. Enjoy!

StageIt Concert, Christmas in Nashville, December 12, 2013

    Christmas in Nashville
    StageIt Show
    December 12, 2013
    8 PM EST

Kris did his second annual Christmas show on StageIt (well, hopefully we can call this an annual tradition) and it was wonderful! He performed with Cale and Andrew St. Marie, and brought in Two Story Road for the encore. (They are a married performing duo he met on the Gokey Sophia's Heart cruise and the show was done out of their house.) I logged off feeling Christmas warmth and cheer.

In the end, he performed six Christmas classics and premiered one original song which I love! We will need to figure out its title though. Let me know your thoughts on that. I'll link mp3s and videos to the performance below, but make sure to pick up the studio recordings of the classics if you haven't already! (You can get the five tracks from Waiting for Christmas on iTunes and I'll Be Home for Christmas from NoiseTrade (no longer available).)

Throwback Thursday: Kris' Stage-It Christmas Concert, December 20, 2012

Every Thursday (most of them anyway) we take a look back at Kris' career via video.

Today is a special Thursday, because tonight is Kris' Stage-It Christmas concert. This year it will be held in Nashville and feature Cale, Andrew St. Marie and maybe some others. This is an online concert and a rare opportunity for international fans, not to mention American fans of scorned states and cities, to catch Kris live via the magic of the Internet.

So if you haven't gotten your ticket yet, what the heck are you waiting for? The first batch sold out and the second batch of tickets will too. As of the time I write this (Wednesday night), there are only 44 tickets left! Get yourself a ticket here! And if money is tight or you don't have a Paypal, then just post in the chat area that you are looking to hitch a ride and I'm sure a generous Kris fan will gift you the ticket. (For those wondering, I won't do a list since really everyone in the fandom who is not otherwise engaged with work or school events should go to this show. But I will post the setlist afterwards.)

Still not convinced? Let's take a look at some highlights from last year's Christmas show for Throwback Thursday!

    Here was the 2012 setlist:

    Part 1 Video, including:

    • Holly Jolly Christmas (Cover - Burl Ives) - PREMIERE
    • The Christmas Song (Cover - Nat King Cole)
    • Please Come Home for Christmas (Cover - Charles Brown) - PREMIERE
    • Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (Cover - Judy Garland)
    • Christmas All Over Again (Cover - Tom Petty) - PREMIERE

    Part 2 Video, including:

    • White Christmas (Cover - Bing Crosby)
    • Oh Holy Night (Traditional Carol) (This one is soooooo pretty)

And the encore (yes, if enough people buy tickets and tip $, you get an encore/longer show):

    • Monster
    • No Boundaries (Reggae)
    • Blindfolded

And this last hauntingly beautiful number, which he sang right after the Newtown tragedy of 2012...

    • Where Are You, Amy? - dedicated to people of Newtown, CT - PREMIERE [Video]

During the show last year, people got the opportunity to tip the artist (i.e., Kris). The top tippers won cool swag including personalized ornaments. This year, according to a post on Kris' official website, we shall be tipping for the opportunity to win "some exciting new-album related rewards." Sounds good!

See you there in the StageIt Main Stage Chatroom tonight! 8 PM Eastern Standard Time (7 PM Central, 5 PM Pacific).

Throwback Thursday: Everybody Wants to Rule the World, San Francisco, 11/21/2010

Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris' career via video.

Uploading a little early today as we have a family celebration tonight.

I was really happy to see this video come up when I plugged 11/21 into the YouTube search box. I've always loved Kris' cover of Tears for Fears' Everybody Wants to Rule the World, and he began mashing it up with Michael Jackson's The Way You Make Me Feel during the 2010 Lifehouse Fall tour. The mash-up was a lot of fun, and it turned into a sexy duet of Kris' falsetto with Andrew DeRoberts' guitar. Check it out in this awesome video from headonfire1105 from his November 21, 2010 concert in San Francisco!

    Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday: Stuck in a Moment, L.A. Grove, November 17, 2010

Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris Allen's career via video.

This week, and really the past few weeks, I admit I have hit a little stumbling block creativity-wise. I've been kind of stuck.

Coincidentally, I happened to go to a David Cook concert this past Monday. He's always good, and I really enjoyed the energy and love his fans showed him. I firmly believe that musical acts really want that kind of energy from their audiences, especially those acts in the pop-rock genre. The vibe of the crowd and the night was fun and lively and I came away feeling energized about live music.

We could use a little of that energy in our particular fandom, and it was great to see news of two shows leak out - February 8 in Watseka, IL and February 14 in Natick, MA (near Boston). I think many Kris fans are starved for live shows, even though truthfully, it hasn't been that long since he toured and he does need the time to work on new music. But new shows are soon to come and the two we know of are now listed on the Kralendar on the bottom of this page. Let me know on Twitter (@KrisAllenLists) if you are going so I can add you to the lists!

For our throwback Thursday entry this week - I was similarly stuck again for an idea. Than I stumbled on this pretty video by jeck s of Kris singing U2's Stuck in a Moment at a 2010 appearance at the L.A. mall called the Grove. This has always been one of my favorite covers by him and it's a song with lyrics that call for one to get oneself together and get out of one's rut.

My hopes? That our fandom can rejuvenate during this downtime and bring a renewed energy towards promoting and attending the upcoming shows! For my part, I have got some ideas for this blog that I am looking forward to putting forth in the new year to come. Let's get unstuck!

Throwback Thursday: Falling Slowly/With or Without You (11/08/09): A Tribute to my Leaves

Every Thursday, we take a look back at Kris' career via video!

This week's entry is inspired by the past two days which I have spent raking many leaves. The leaves in Virginia are beautiful, that is until they fall all over the place and you have to spend countless hours raking them in time for "leaf collection day" which is never a convenient day.

So what better song to pay tribute to those leaves to than Kris's debut performance of his mash-up of his Idol movie night classic cover of The Swell Season's Falling Slowly and U2's With or Without You. He first performed this at a Live in the Vineyard showcase in November 2009. Here's the official video posted by Live in the Vineyard:

Bonus goodie: For those who would like it, here's an mp3 of this particular performance.

I still can't believe I have never seen this live. Consider yourself lucky if you have; I'm very envious!
Now I am going to have a nice oaky chardonnay to commemorate this year's leaves falling slowly, and raking, which I certainly could live with or without.

It's a Kris Allen Halloween Special!

Normally we use Thursdays and Fridays to catch up and look back at Kris media, but this week is Halloween, so today we're going to have a big Kris Allen Halloween Special post!

I asked for spooky and haunting videos of Monster and Out Alive, and here's what you submitted!

@SnapCracklyPop noted that her video of Monster from the Constellation Room show might work and he was purple if not haunting. We'll take it!

But hmmm, as she mentioned, purple does not equal scary enough - but maybe it was the angle?

Because this video of Out Alive from the same show by IAMmandaD features lots of screams and blue misty smoke!

@SnapCracklyPop also pointed me towards this next video of Kris at his show in Evanston, IL, contemplating his 2012 Halloween costume (see the end of this post for what he actually sported).

Now, let's check out the next entry. Here's Monster from an October 2012 show in Texas City, TX, submitted by @maryet34

Ooh smoky and creepy blue lights! Like it!

Our next entry is from @KYNurse45_ - she remembered that the Hamilton show in Washington, DC was quite smoky and submitted her Monster video! (Also, side note: that is my water glass you see in front of the candle giving off a flickering scary glow.)

Shadowy figures, smoky, flickering candles, and sometimes the lighting makes Kris look like a ghost! This video is scary!

So I went looking for Out Alive from the same show and found this video by crybaby4u, with Kris bathed in white smoke and spooky blue lights:

Spooky! As we all know, this show was October 28, 2012, aka the night Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast, and Kris and company ended up stranded in Washington DC for a few days. So they celebrated Halloween in style and luckily The Washington Post snagged some video! Watch it to see their Halloween costumes from last year!

Happy Halloween from Kris Allen Lists! May you all get lots of the good candy! If I have missed any good scary and haunting Kris Halloween videos, please share them in the comment section below!

Flashback Friday: Constellation Room and Halloween Costumes

On Fridays, we try to catch up on tour media around here! We'll check out a video to catch up on the Out Alive Tour. Plus I'll try to give you a bonus video that is worth another look...

    Out Alive Tour Video

Going back to work means that my catch-up has slowed down and I'm only up to the February 8, 2013 show at the Constellation Club in Santa Ana (Orange County), California! Luckily some of our best videoers were at this show, and there are no bad videos from what I can tell. I've updated the show post with tons of links to all these videos!

I decided to go with this one because ... only 12 views? OK, it's not coded great for search, but c'mon. It's a great video that shows how hot Kris was that night (not to mention a dancing machine), and how great the crowd was (if only all the crowds would let loose like this)! So let's give it some love - here's Shut That Door as filmed by jsalow2:

    Video worth Another Look

Halloween is a week away, and I need your help! Going to showcase some Monster and Out Alive videos next week, and I am looking for the scariest, spookiest ones - y'know the ones with creepy lighting and dry ice all over the place. If you've got a nominee, let me know! I will not be doing a Thursday or Friday post next week; instead, we'll have a Halloween special!

To get you in the mood, here's Kris brainstorming last year with Austin, TX about costumes:

And here he is throwing out Twizzlers to his adoring fans in Atlantic City, 2010:

    Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday: October 24, 2010: Kris opens for Lifehouse in Washington, DC

Every Thursday we take a look back at Kris' career via video.

This week, I'm going to be even more selfish than normal, because I realized that exactly three years ago today was the first time Kris played an actual concert in my hometown of Washington, DC (besides the Idol tour and as opposed to a radio or charity appearance), when he came here to open for Lifehouse in their 2010 tour. So we are doing quite the personal throwback tonight.

This was such a fun concert - got together with a bunch of Kris fan friends at one person's condo for dinner and drinks, then shuttled over to the venue, DAR Constitution Hall, a beautiful place with fantastic acoustics.

Funny anecdote: This was around the time Alright with Me had become KATA's 3rd single and we DC people had begged one of the local radio stations which will go nameless to play it without success. A few of us went up to the radio station's table at the show to plead our case and received the response of "well, ok, do you want a nail file with the station's name?"

But on to the show! It was great. Alyssa Bernal ("Cali, Cali, Cali," remember?) opened, followed by Kris. He was very impressed by DC, as shown in this video by kmt8871 of Alright With Me:

And as you can hear, DC was (and always is) quite responsive to him! It's one of his best cities to play in terms of a responsive audience.

This was also the night he dropped Man in the Mirror from the set list and replaced it with a cover of Everybody Rules the World by Tears for Fears, segueing into an awesome full band Is It Over: Here's a great video from Marilyn Yang:

This was just a great night, capped off with a great performance from Lifehouse and a fun conversation with Cale. Finally, the highlight came when my friend and I met Kris (for me it was the first time) after the show. He was tired and we look super goofy in our pictures with him, but I remember our drive to our friend's place afterwards; we were super giddy and thrilled to have met him.

So all in all, one of my favorite concerts ever! Here's some show info and additional links in case you want to see more! If you have some media to share from this show, please pass it along and I'll link it below!

Kris is expected to perform a 30-minute solo set as part of this fundraiser for Choosing to Excel. According to this article by The Log Cabin Democrat previewing the event and explaining the group's purpose, Kris appeared as a peer presenter during his teens for a spin-off organization of the group, which aims to prevent teen pregnancy and provide services to pregnant teens and teen parents.

No AR concert regulars were there; apparently there was a Luke Bryan concert in town as competition for this event.

Throwback Thursday: October 16, 2013: Little Kids Rock 10th Anniversary Gala, honoring Steven Van Zandt

Every Thursday, we usually take a look back at some point of Kris' career. Tonight is a special post though, because we are going to take a look back at one of my personal favorite events that he was ever involved in: the 10th Anniversary Gala for Little Kids Rock, held October 16, 2012, in New York City.

Tonight, as you may know, Little Kids Rock is holding its annual gala for 2013; this year, the honoree is the great Darlene Love. This is one of Kris' favorite charities and although he's not there tonight and is home making up mysterious mash-ups for us, I'm sure he would want you to check out the online auction to raise funds for Little Kids Rock! There are quite a few great items, especially if you are a Springsteen or a Modern Family fan, just saying!

As we all heard me go on last year, I'm a huge Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band fan, so an evening devoted to the music of Steven Van Zandt? Fantastic! Kris meets Bruce? Bucket List for fangirl me!

One of the highlights was the grand finale, which featured all of the performers doing a spirited and fun rendition of Southside Johnny's classic I Don't Want to Go Home (co-written with Mr. Van Zandt). So for our throwback Thursday video tonight, here's a video you probably missed of this performance, shot by Kris' friend Andy Davis:

In honor of Little Kids Rock and just because I love all of the performers from last year's event, I've updated our show post from last year from the event with videos for all performers (that I could find; if I missed any, let me know), plus interviews, acceptance speeches, blogs, mp3s and more goodies!
    Enjoy!

Flashback Friday: February 7, 2013: Canyon Club, Agoura Hills, CA and a September 5, 2012, interview on Good Day LA

Every Friday, we catch up on media around here. First we look at a video from the Out Alive Tour, and second, we check a video from the past you may have missed the first time!

As you may have known from reading his tweets this past week, Kris is in Los Angeles to visit friends, attend his manager's wedding and most importantly (to me anyway), work on that next album! He also took in time to watch his Idol castmate Allison Iraheta perform with her new band. Check out @SnapCracklyPop's timeline on Twitter for more on that.

I thought it would be good to revisit some past trips to Los Angeles for this week's Flashback Friday post:

    Out Alive Tour Video:

I've worked my way up to the February 7, 2013, Agoura Hills show at the Canyon Club. (Agoura Hills is a suburb of Los Angeles.) This show is most special because it gave us one of Kris' best cover request songs ever, Wicked Games by Chris Isaak. Enjoy kradamantium's video of it below, and then check out my updated post for the Agoura Hills show for more videos and an mp3 of Wicked Games (courtesy of @summerdaze_)

    Past Video:

Well working on the album this week, I thought it would be fun to hear Kris' thoughts after his last album, Thank You Camellia, was released. Here's @isbinla's video of his September 5, 2012 interview on Good Day LA, featuring a performance of Better With You.

Throwback Thursday: After Dark at Oklahoma State University, October 8, 2012

Every Thursday on non-show nights, we take a look back at Kris' career via video!

This week, we go back to last year to a show that Kris did at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The show was part of a Christian program called After Dark, but with Kris as headliner, it pretty much just turned into a party as this video of Alright with Me shows ... audience storming the stage to dance!

You can find the updated post for the 10/8/12 OSU show here, with additional video links - unfortunately, there's not many videos from this show. If you know of one I missed, send the link to me and I'll update!

Flashback Friday: San Diego 2/2/13 and Kris Plays Electric Guitar in 2009 and 2010!

On Fridays, we try to catch up on tour media around here! We'll check out a video to catch up on the Out Alive Tour. Plus I'll try to give you a bonus video - Out Alive Tour!

    Out Alive Tour Video
I'm up to San Diego and wow, was that an epic show on February 2, 2013 at the Soda Bar. There's no shortage of media to choose from; so I've updated the post for that show with all of the videos and yes, mp3s! Special shout-outs go to Ocamy21, SnapCracklyPop, Kradamantium and TheRealConcertKing who all went the extra mile and made you YouTube playlists (linked on the show post), and to Summerdaze_, coming through once again with the mp3s.

I couldn't decide between these two videos to feature here so you get them both:

Kradamantium's sexy video of Kris being sexy and ad-libbing during Leave You Alone

Ocamy21's awesome video of Seven Nation Army/Shut That Door

But also be sure to hit up the show post and check out Torres singing lead on California Dreaming and the band just doing another great job on Breakdown. Plus if you are West Coast, don't miss the banter before Better With You.

    Bonus Video

We also try each week to take a look back at a fun or great (or both) video that maybe got overlooked or maybe just deserves a second look! I put out a request on Twitter and Summerdaze_ asked for something featuring Kris on electric guitar. (Perhaps inspired by this picture he tweeted.) Sounds good to me and it's the least I can do to thank her for the mp3s. But what to choose?

There's the first video that comes up in search on YouTube when you input "Kris Allen Electric Guitar"

Ah his Bright Lights solo during the 2009 Idol Tour, Charlotte version. He did great on that. Here's another fun video of it from the Portland 2009 Idol Tour

Then thinking through his own songs, the ones that have always stood out to me for electric guitar were Can't Stay Away and Is It Over, but Is It Over was always more of an Andrew DeRoberts tour de force. So we will go with Can't Stay Away, back to the Fall 2010 Lifehouse tour, where the KAB had evolved the song into a big guitar jam at the end. I found 3 pretty videos for you of Kris and his red electric guitar.

    Here's Westbury, NY (k21886):

Here's Washington, DC (mamaygr - disclaimer - that's my personal account so this is actually my video)

Here's Kansas City (Debbi Ronnebaum) with bonus Red Guitar (for which he puts the red guitar down and picks up a brown one, LOL.)

    Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday: October 3, 2012: St. Louis, MO Start of the 2012 Fall Tour & Happy Anniversary to this Blog!

So, a little announcement: I'd forgotten I'd started the blog on September 13, 2012! So tonight, belated Happy Blogaversary to me!

And in researching for tonight's post - October 3, 2012 was the first night of the fall 2012 tour. It all started with a show in St Louis at a venue called Off Broadway. So of course for our weekly look back, we will go back to that awesome tour's beginnings.

Let's begin with the lovely original song, Should I, performed by Kris for VIP Meet and Greet holders that night.

Also, this was the first time they did my favorite of his new songs, Paul Simon!

Heck, he even covered Nelly's St. Louis!

And because we're celebrating, here's pretty much my favorite song from Thank You Camellia (since Kris has not yet done Turn the Pages live).

Props to Debbi Ronnebaum for the awesome videos! Make sure you check them all out. Kris debuted his mash-up of Titanium/Every Breath You Take live at this show, and also revamped versions of Alright with Me and Teach Me How Love Goes.

Now to make that easier, and because it's my Blogaversary, I've gone and updated the post for October 3, 2012 with links to all the videos (thank you Debbi) and mp3s (thank you @summerdaze_) for the whole show! Enjoy!

Wish we'd known earlier - would've worked up a list! Heck, maybe St. Louis Kris fans might have gone!

Many thanks to a second awesome tweeter @Bond_doubleoh_7 who says that this was a private party and provided this set list; she's also going to email some videos to share! Stay tuned!

Kris does a college concert at the Rexburg, Idaho campus of Brigham Young University. According to this sweet tweet, the campus was plastered with posters advertising the show - sounds good! And Cody McDevitt of the Idaho Falls Post Register (the local newspaper) put out this excellent article and interview with Kris previewing the show. There is a pre-show dinner-type meet and greet as well.

According to this tweet, the show is sold out... Videos and more after the break!

Throwback Thursday: September 29, 2012: Ain't No Sunshine with Jose Feliciano at Miami Rocks our Troops

On Thursdays on non-show days, we take a look back!

This week we are going back to last year to a charity event on September 29, 2012, benefiting veterans in Miami. Kris was part of a star-studded line-up for Miami Rocks Our Troops, including Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Billy Ray Cyrus, and of course, the great Jose Feliciano who is well known for his own cover of Bill Withers' Ain't No Sunshine.

So it was very cool when Jose invited Kris up to join him in a duet on that song! Here's a nice video of it from Catalm:

Enjoy! See you tomorrow for the Rexburg, ID list! (Kris is doing a show at Brigham Young University-Idaho tomorrow.)

Flashback Friday: Looking back at some new songs! Tucson, AZ and Nashville, TN

On Fridays, we try to catch up on tour media around here! We'll check out a video to catch up on the Out Alive Tour. Plus I'll try to give you a bonus video - maybe one that got overlooked or one that is just worth watching again.

    Out Alive Tour:
For those who don't know, at the end of the year I will give you some awesome, in order, almost complete video playlist of every song that Kris did live! Since he toured a lot this year, it's a work going very slowly in progress. I'm up to Tucson, AZ, February 1, and I see from looking at this link that this is one of the very few shows he performed one of his post-TYC songs, Where are You, Amy? Since the video by ZoniDuck sounds amazing and is one of the few performances live of this song, seemed like a great choice to go back and take a look at. He also talks a little bit about the record that he is now working on.

    Worth Another Look Video:

Since Kris is in Nashville working hard, I thought I'd take a look at his 3rd and Lindsley concert there from last November. Hoping he can do that again - we got an awesome livestream out of it! Continuing our new songs theme, here's his performance of Paul Simon as videoed by Jackson Jones:

Can't wait to buy the new music!

Show: September 12, 2013: South Dakota State University Performing Arts Center, Brookings SD

    Brookings, SD

    September 12, 2013
    8:00 PM CDT
(Concert Poster by South Dakota State University Program Council)

    Event and List Preview:

Kris performs for the students of South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. This is a small town (closest big city is Minneapolis, a four hour drive away), but it's dear to my heart because my great-grandfather Cecil used to own the department store there! I kid you not. There's a pub now in the same building named after him. One day I would seriously like to visit this place!

As far as the show goes, the list is not big. But a student recently tweeted that it was almost sold out, so expect a good crowd and a lot of late additions to the list. The Facebook page for the event has been popular as well, and I've added those I could find from there on Twitter to the list.

Updated: Here's the student newspaper article:

Also - just a bit of housekeeping news. I've been following how some other fandoms do their concert pages and have decided to start adding more info and pictures to each concert post. If I can do it while a show is going on, great; if not, will do it afterwards. I'd also like to archive stuff for our fandom, so if you have some great pictures, videos and/or mp3s from past Kris shows (especially the Out Alive Tour), I'd love to link them. So please send them my way (email krinjalists@gmail.com or tweet to @KrisAllenLists)

    But back to South Dakota!

    September 6 and 7, 2013
Sometime between 7:30 pm and 1:30 am

    Event and List Preview
Well we got blindsided a little by this. A Disney worker spilled the beans on Twitter, excited that Kris would stay at her resort. Later, Kris just tweeted he was going to Disney World but didn't say why.

Well, apparently he was participating in some manner in a apparently huge private-but-not-really after-hours Christian music festival, although he was not on the list of concert performers and this is not listed on his schedules at KAO or Fleming.

This flyer contains all we know. It's at Disney and sponsored by World Vision. From making a list for you this morning, radio stations have been doing ticket giveaways and Disney and some of the artists have been promoting this event. No one beyond that flyer has promoted Kris' involvement in it.

Just to get it off my chest, personally I don't think it makes any sense PR-wise to not include this on his list of appearances, given that they've listed something that is basically a HS talent show. Plus, from doing all the lists, I know Kris does have quite a few fans who enjoy Christian music and the other acts involved, and they might have gotten tickets to the festival if they had known about it. Not to mention, Kris fans were very supportive of his efforts for World Vision.

But I know many of my followers enjoy following Kris' every move, so I have made you a list. People are liberally using #nightofjoy as a hashtag on Twitter. There are a lot of people who are going to be there but no guarantees that anyone will tweet about Kris.

    Updated After The Show:

Kris played both September 6 and 7. He spoke about WorldVision and played a solo acoustic version of One Love by Bob Marley both nights. The set list post can be found here. Saw a few tweets from his fans saying if they had only known, they wouldn't have turned down opportunities they had to go to Night of Joy. Too bad.

We did get video snippets though:
Upside: There was a decent crowd there and it's good for new fans to gain exposure to Kris. Hopefully the details of his future performance plans can be revealed in time for those who need to travel to be able to make their plans.

Throwback Thursday: Is It Over, Dayton, OH 9/1/10

Every Thursday during the in-between times, we take a look back at a fun Kris video of yore.

Summer is drawing to an end. As a self-professed summer girl, I have to ask "Is It Over" (Cheesetown, I know.) This time of year, I'm in the mood for a sultry summer evening, with plenty of guitar and a good crowd.

So here's kmt8871's video of Is It Over from Labor Day weekend 2010 in Dayton, Ohio. This was the tour with Maroon 5. Lots of Andrew for the Andrewberts!

Enjoy! And if you are going to see either of Kris's shows this September (see Kralendar below for dates and places), please let me know to add you to our Twitter lists!

Well obviously, this show is a big deal! It's the first show post-baby! And set in his east coast stronghold, he will no doubt have an enthusiastic audience. Plus it's at an amusement park and we always get some fun pictures and videos when Kris visits amusement parks.

6:30 PM Set List (via @Ang_716)

    List Preview:
At first glance, you'll notice this is not one of our biggest lists. However, what it may lack in quantity, it will have in quality as many of our finest tweeters, video-takers and photographers plan to make the trek to Hershey. And I'm sure we'll be adding a ton of amusement park patrons who just didn't tweet in advance.

    Updated:
Two very fun shows, although from all reports, show #2 had the greater energy thanks to Kris inviting the crowd to get out of their seats and stand by the stage, and also having much more banter. Hoping that Fleming Artists will seek out standing venues for Kris in the future - it makes a huge difference! Special note, in show #1, the audience and Kris sang Happy Birthday to Chris Torres.

Flashback Friday: Sweet Carolina and Sweet Hershey

On Fridays, we try to catch up on tour media around here! We'll check out a video to catch up on the Out Alive Tour. Plus I'll try to give you a bonus video - maybe one that got overlooked or one that is just worth watching again.

For the Out Alive tour video this week, since we are looking at a show in Hershey, Pennsylvania this week, I thought I should give you something sweet to enjoy! Here's Kradmantium's video of Ryan Adams' Oh My Sweet Carolina as performed by Kris and Jillette Johnson at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles (Show #1 of 2).

For the bonus video, of course we are going to return to Hershey! Everyone seems excited for this concert on Sunday. Many saw him before opening for Daughtry in Hershey - including me! I'll never forget these two HUGE football player types sitting in front of us - clearly there for Daughtry but they did get up and dance to Live Like We're Dying and Come Together. I thought you'd all get a kick out of me flailing over Daughtry coming on stage to sing Send Me All Your Angels, so here's this video shot by the person I was with, kmt8871!

Everyone I went to that show with is going to be there this time too, except for me (Boo!) - so you can expect some more awesome videos (but maybe not as much flail? I don't know, they'll have to bring it to top my screaming)! Click here for the set list as well as tons and tons of media from the August 6, 2010 Hershey concert!

Throwback Thursday: August 14/15, A Day for Epic Apparently

On every (well, most) Thursdays we take a look back at Kris Allen's past performances to remember the good times! Since I've been a little remiss lately about this, thought I'd load you up with a few videos.

Usually I start this by searching the date and Kris' name in YouTube. When I did this with August 15, so many goodies came up! So - in reverse chronological order, here's August 15 in Kris Allen World (excluding 2012 and 2013 - nothing to report for these years).

First, August 15, 2011, Clarkston, MI: Kris debuts You Got a Way during a concert opening for Lifehouse! Here's Altrus01's awesome video! (Click here for the setlist and more media.)

Then, August 15, 2010, (well technically August 14 but the videos were uploaded on the 15th!), at the Indiana State Fair, we got this little piece of Kreith goodness from supox30!

This was the first time they performed Jack and Diane together. The Indiana audience did a great job of singing along! And of course at the beginning we get Kris telling Keith he's hot (:DDDDD) and at the end, a big old epic Kreith hug! (Lots more media and the full setlist for Kris here.)

And August 15, 2009? Kris was still touring with the Season 8 Idols, in Hamilton, Ontario! Here's a awesome but terrifying video (when you think about the giant cavernous hole that opens up behind him) from Lupin788 of Kris performing the Killers' All These Things That I've Done!

    Enjoy!

Flashback Friday: Hit Me Baby One More Time Edition!

On Fridays during non-tour periods, we try to catch up on tour media around here! We'll check out a video to catch up on the Out Alive Tour. Plus I'll try to give you a bonus video - maybe one that got overlooked or one that is just worth watching again.

Of course, our big news this week was the arrival of Oliver Neil Allen on July 30. Congratulations to Kris and Katy, and welcome to the world Oliver! So I thought for this week's Out Alive Tour video, we'd check out a baby banter video! And it includes a nice clear audio/video of Unique too! Here's kmt8871's video of Unique from the April 22, 2013 Ann Arbor, MI show.

For our bonus video, continuing with the baby theme, I thought it would be fun to go way back to when we saw the birth of the Kris Allen Band! Here they are in Yendiders' awesome video at the Miami Dolphins Tailgate in October 2009, performing Britney Spears' Hit Me Baby One More Time!

Enjoy! We'll keep having these catch-up posts on Thursdays and Fridays to tide us over until Kris' next show on August 18 in Hershey, PA!

    Friday, July 19, 2013

Flashback Friday - Kris in Florida (Gainesville 2013 & Sunrise 2009)

On Fridays during non-tour periods, we try to catch up on tour media around here! We'll check out a video to catch up on the Out Alive Tour. Plus I'll try to give you a bonus video - maybe one that got overlooked or one that is just worth watching again.

For the Out Alive Tour Catch-up Video, as mentioned yesterday, I am going out of town to spend a week with the family at our new vacation home in Florida. So I have the Sunshine State on my brain, and I recall that we did not get too many videos right away from the January Gainesville show. So I've decided that we shall enjoy this video of the request song, Get Back, by Krista Lauren. She's also got a nice video of his cover of Garth Brook's The River. If I did it right, this video will lead you to an excellent playlist of all the videos from Gainesville.

For the bonus video, well I see MJ is tapping the Kris fans to go live tweet tonight's Idol tour concert. So it's time to go reminisce about the amazingness that was the Season 8 Idol tour. Remember the cellcasts, the Kradam dance, the plaid, the autograph lines, the bouncing way too close to that hole in the stage? I challenge the Season 12 idols to be even half that much fun.

So tonight's bonus video, continuing our Florida theme, will be a video of Don't Stop Believing from Sunrise, July 29, 2009! Has it really been almost four years?

That was fun, we will try to do some more Idol tour reminiscing this summer. :)

    Thursday, July 18, 2013

Throwback Thursday: July 28, 2010, California Mid-State Fair, Paso Robles, CA

Well, we Kris fans are in #babywatch mode, or in my case, #vacationwatch. I'll be away next week, so there won't be any blog posts then. So I realized I needed to do a proper #ThrowbackThursday post to help fill the live concert void!

Then I saw a tweet on my personal twitter feed - a picture of Tim McGraw performing at this year's MidState Fair in Paso Robles, California. Suddenly, wonderful memories of Kris performing there in 2010 to an appreciative crowd returned. And of course, that was a Kreith show (a show where Kris opened for Keith Urban), which means we got an awesome hug at the end of an awesome duet! So it was easy to choose to go revisit the 2010 Paso Robles show for this week's Throwback post.

So without further ado, here's an awesome duet on The Boys of Summer, filmed by Kris' tour manager at the time:

While looking for this, I stumbled on a video shot from way back in the crowd - love this big crowd!

And for another bonus, I found this lovely snippet of Maybe shot by a Keith Urban fan known for her great videos! One of my all time favorite covers by Kris.

Happy trip down Kreith in Paso Robles memory lane!

    Live on the Levee
    Charleston, WV
    July 12, 2013
7:45 pm and 8:45 pm EDT

    The Ryan Kennedy Trio opening

Tonight Kris does his last show pre-baby! Then he'll be going on a little parental leave as we would call it at my job, returning August 18 to Hershey, PA. Be sure to follow @PurplePawns if you are an East coast Kris fan for info on that show.

    Show Preview:
This is a Friday night outdoor concert series held in a park by the Kanawha River. Apparently a newscast tweeted that they are expecting a large crowd for this show! Kris will be appearing this morning on WCHS-channel 8 this morning in Charleston. You can download their app (warning, it's taking a long time to load on my ipod so do it now) by searching WCHS ABC8 in the itunes store. Kris will have two sets, one at 7:45 and one at 8:45 pm (eastern) with fireworks closing the show!

    List Preview:
Lots of great tweeters you'll recognize now making their way to Charleston, plus a lot of excited West Virginians. Previously, Kris has only appeared in the northern part of the state, so this will be a first Kris Allen show for many on our list. We hope they have a blast!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to some unfortunate but typical PITA mid-atlantic thunderstorms that have hit Charleston, the show has been moved to the nearby Town Center Mall at 9 PM. Spread the word to any Kris fans you see are there and wondering!

Recap: The show at the mall turned out to be a lot of fun, and Kris fans everywhere got to enjoy a livestream! Here's the set list/video & photo post!
